While Luo Ye grumbled to himself, the system that had lain dormant in his mind for so long creaked to life. "Nen ability detected. Soul Reaper Kido unlocked."
"Soul Reaper Kido?" Luo Ye's eyes immediately lit up. "Does that mean I can use magic now?" With Kido, his attacks would no longer be limited to that wooden sword that he still had no way of releasing with Shikai!
And Kido had a wide range of applications too. He could combine it with other techniques.
Feitan wrapped his aura around himself and opened his eyes. Then he saw Luo Ye dancing around in excitement and frowned in confusion. "What are you doing?"
"I'm happy!" Luo Ye sat down enthusiastically. "You've awakened Nen, and I've unlocked Kido. Everybody wins!"
"Kido? What's that?" Luo Ye explained it to him. "It's something similar to your Nen ability." In short, his Kido could now stand on equal footing with Feitan's Nen.
"Since our strength has increased so much, let's go steal a house." Feitan stood up. "I'm tired of living in shipping containers. It's about time we got a new place."
Luo Ye eagerly agreed. "A new house? Sure! I've already picked one out. The house in front of that big garbage dump is pretty good. It's big enough for both of us, so let's take that one!"
It wasn't as though they had never considered living in a larger house before, but they hadn't had the strength to hold onto one. That was why they could only live in shipping containers. Now that their strength had greatly improved, it was time to upgrade their living environment.
The owner of the house was a tall man. They had investigated him before—he had no Nen ability and had merely taken a house by relying on his brute strength. He was perfect for them to practice on.
Luo Ye volunteered to go up and test him out. He was currently dressed as a little girl, which would make the man less guarded than if he were a boy. He was the most suitable person for probing him.
"A little girl? Interesting. You actually came right to my door." The man's lustful gaze was sickening. Luo Ye pulled out his wooden sword and rushed at him. "We still don't know who came to whose door!"
"A wooden sword?" The man sneered. "You think you can deal with me using that piece of junk?" Just as the man's fist smashed toward the wooden sword, Luo Ye's gaze sharpened. Now! "Binding Way No. 9, Strike!" A red beam shot from his hand, binding the grinning man tightly.
"What is this thing?" The man panicked. Luo Ye immediately chopped at his neck with the wooden sword, leaving a red mark. This was awkward—he had meant to slit his throat, but without Shikai, his wooden sword had no edge. And his swordsmanship with an ordinary wooden sword was nowhere near good enough to chop through someone's throat.
A cold glint flashed. A line of blood sprayed from the man's neck, and he fell straight down. Feitan had made his move. "As expected of Feitan—you're reliable!" Luo Ye gave him a huge thumbs-up.
Feitan wiped the blood from his blade and suddenly said, "Have you considered changing weapons? That wooden sword of yours is completely useless." He might as well use a sharper blade and slit throats directly.
"You don't understand. This wooden sword is my life." Luo Ye sighed helplessly. Just like the women's clothing he wore, it was his destiny. How could he possibly throw away what was destined for him? "Besides, it's my lack of skill. It has nothing to do with it." He still hadn't learned Shikai and couldn't bring out the wooden sword's true power, so he couldn't blame the sword for being dull.
After all, this was Byakuya Kuchiki's Zanpakutō, Senbonzakura. How could it possibly be weak?
