In the kingdom, three days had passed since Ye Chen brought Perona back.

Standing at the edge of the great plaza on God's Island, Ye Chen clasped his hands behind his back and gazed into the distance. He could faintly hear the bustle of Divine City.

But his eyes were not on the boundless territory. They were on the giant elephant walking around the kingdom.

It had been days since his argument with Sakura, and neither had spoken to the other. Truthfully, Ye Chen regretted it. Several times, he had wanted to back down, but whenever he thought of the consequences, he chose silence.

A king or an overlord—Ye Chen did not want Sakura to become a king. He would rather she become an overlord, a ruthless force to be reckoned with. In this world, only people like that lived well.

Too much innocence and kindness would only get her killed.

Sakura regretted it too, but her stubbornness would not let her admit she was wrong. She still believed she was right.

Father and daughter were alike in that way. Both were obstinate.

Sakura had spent all this time in the Zou Kingdom, hoping to earn Bepo and Carrot's forgiveness. She did not want to lose Bepo, who had been family to her since childhood, or Carrot, who had only just become her friend. But every time she saw how dispirited they were, her heart ached, and she felt Ye Chen had gone too far.

"Why did Sakura have to inherit your temper?"

Gion had appeared beside Ye Chen without him noticing. She gazed into the distance with him.

Many people had tried to talk to Ye Chen and Sakura over the past few days, but it had done little good.

"She's my daughter. Who else would she take after?"
