Background

Smoker was recommended to the Marine Headquarters Elite Training Camp by Kuzan. Tsuru regarded him as a talented but troublesome Logia user when reviewing the camp roster 15.

He entered the camp with a reputation for arrogance, a powerful physique, and a refusal to accommodate others. He was assigned to Dorm 307 with Corvo Rayne, whom he immediately antagonized over his habitual smoking 19.

Appearance

Smoker is a muscular young Marine with unruly white hair and a rough, intimidating demeanor. He is almost constantly surrounded by cigar smoke.

Personality

Smoker is confrontational, prideful, and intensely independent. He initially rejects regulations as meaningless, believing that strength alone establishes authority. His first response to Rayne’s request to stop smoking indoors was to deliberately blow smoke in his face and challenge him to leave 19.

His confidence is closely tied to proving his strength. After Rayne defeats him, Smoker attempts to restore his self-image by scoring 602 Doriki and openly challenging Rayne with his gaze 22. He is also impulsive enough that Zephyr rejects his request to join Sakazuki’s fleet, assigning him to Kuzan specifically to learn restraint 41.

Despite his aggression, Smoker gradually becomes loyal and considerate toward those he accepts. He joins Rayne and Rosinante’s survival team when left without partners, relies on Rayne’s judgment on Gigantia, and later considers Rayne a genuine friend 26 36. His awkward effort to pack food for Hina also reveals a softer side he tries to deny 36.
