Background / History

Shiki entered the God Valley Incident as a member of the Rocks Pirates. Floating above the island alongside Charlotte Linlin, he used the crew’s arrival to launch a devastating assault on the Marine blockade; together, they destroyed warships and opened a route onto the island. His golden hair, cigars, twin swords, and openly arrogant demeanor stood out immediately. 3

After Rocks’ death caused the Rocks Pirates to collapse, Shiki formed the Flying Pirates and began building his own legend. The crew later became one of the world’s most feared pirate forces, with a fleet capable of flying through the power of the Float-Float Fruit. 6 58

Personality

Shiki is fiercely proud, theatrical, and quick to anger when his authority or reputation is challenged. He introduces himself as the “Sky Pirate” even in the middle of battle, dismisses threats from the Marines, and considers surrendering plunder beneath him. 59 83

He recognizes exceptional strength in others, but his respect is inseparable from ambition. During his fight with Xia Luo, he offers the young Marine the position of Flying Pirates vice captain; Xia Luo’s mocking refusal immediately turns Shiki’s respect into greater killing intent. 63

His pride also makes him vulnerable to manipulation. When newspapers falsely report that Rosha has joined the Flying Pirates, Shiki is enraged—not only by the mistake, but by the implication that he has taken responsibility for someone he never recruited. 85
