The instant his words fell, Kaido did not hesitate in the slightest. He swung his spiked club and charged straight at the blonde woman.
He had never held much of an advantage in his fight against Sengoku. If this unkillable, bizarre woman joined in, his chances of winning would be practically zero.
So his plan was simple... deal with the blonde woman first and eliminate any future trouble, then focus on Sengoku and wait for the right chance to run.
"He's coming for you!!" Sengoku shouted in warning, his voice emerging from the mouth of the golden giant Buddha.
But before the words had even faded, Kaido had already reached the blonde woman.
The blonde woman's pupils constricted sharply, and genuine panic appeared on her face, which had yet to fully recover.
"Bug! Stop right there!" the blonde woman shrieked, instinctively crossing her arms in front of herself.
Bang!!
Kaido opened with a savage blow, smashing his spiked club heavily into her head.
The club carried the lingering power of the Eight Gates. The instant it struck, the ground shattered beneath the shockwave, and dust burst from the cracks.
The blonde woman's body sank violently downward, her legs plunging into the broken ground.
Afraid she was not quite dead yet, Kaido followed up with several more blows.
Thud thud thud!!!
With every strike, the ground trembled. Layers of shockwave ripples spread outward, making the surrounding rubble leap into the air.
Seeing that her head had already been smashed so badly it was barely recognizable, Kaido aimed at her body and hammered down again.
Thud thud thud!!!
"Bastard!" Kaido panted heavily, every blow brutal and heavy. "You! If you! Still don't! Die! I, Kaido! Will give you my life!"
Bang!!
Before his words could finish, a golden shockwave slammed into his side like a wall.
Kaido was blasted away by that force like a kicked stone, rolling endlessly across the ground.
Rumble!!
Dust and shattered stones left a long trail in the wake of his tumble.
Kaido quickly got to his feet, bracing his spiked club against the ground and using his own strength to dispel the last of his momentum.
Sengoku, transformed into a golden giant Buddha, strode over to the blonde woman.
He slowly extended a hand and, as if pulling a trampled blade of grass from the soil, plucked the blonde woman's horribly mangled body from the crater in the ground and carefully placed her on his palm.
Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh!
Black smoke swirled fiercely around the blonde woman's body, like some dark flame frantically repairing her wounds.
Her collapsed skull rose again, her shattered skin healed rapidly, and her crooked neck crackled as it slowly twisted back into place.
When Kaido looked up, he saw it all.
He blinked.
Then he laughed...
666.
She had cheats. How the hell was he supposed to fight that?
Kaido immediately turned around and ran.
A muffled voice slowly rose from Sengoku's palm. "Ch... chase..."
The voice came in fragments, as if her mouth had not fully grown back yet, but it soon became clear. "Go after him! What are you standing around for?! I'm going to make that bug pay a terrible price!"
Sengoku lowered his eyes to glance at the figure still desperately regenerating in his palm. He clicked his tongue silently, an unspoken complaint circling through his mind.
You were the one who got careless. If I hadn't been here, Kaido would have beaten you into a meatball by now.
Still, complaints aside, Sengoku did as she said.
But after only two steps, he suddenly stopped.
"Bastard?!" the blonde woman roared from his palm. "What are you doing?!"
But the next second, her voice caught as well.
Because Kaido had stopped running too.
He had even turned around to face them.
Boom!!
Just then, something gleaming gold fell from the sky and landed before them. The entire ground shook violently, and the air was driven outward, whipping up a fierce blast of wind that carried dust and stones in a roaring tide in every direction.
The blonde woman instinctively wanted to raise an arm to shield herself, but at the very instant she lifted it, she suddenly remembered something!
The last time she had lowered her arm, that damned bug had smashed her in the face with a club.
The thought made her shudder all over. She forcibly lowered her arm and stared straight ahead into the blast.
As the dust dispersed, a massive Golden Nine-Tailed Fox Demon stood in the open space between Kaido and Sengoku, its nine enormous tails swaying slowly behind it.
Its body glowed with scorching light beneath the sun, its golden chakra cloak resembling flowing flames.
The blonde woman frowned slightly, a fine layer of sweat appearing on her forehead.
"This is..."
"Ron," Sengoku said softly.
"Never heard of him," the blonde woman replied.
Sengoku ignored her. He had only said it instinctively to himself.
At that moment, Kaido tilted his head back and stared blankly at the enormous golden figure. His mouth hung slightly open as he slowly said, "Ro... Ron? Is that really you?"
The Golden Nine-Tailed Fox Demon tilted its head slightly and looked at him for two seconds! Then, without answering, it turned its gaze back to Sengoku.
"We meet again, Sengoku," Ron's voice came from the Nine-Tailed Fox Demon's mouth.
Whoosh!!
The instant he finished speaking, that bastard Kaido had already leaped onto the Nine-Tailed Fox Demon's shoulder. Raising his spiked club, he shouted, "Get him, Ron! Kill him!"
