Everyone on Onigashima was utterly baffled by the fact that Lynn could fly without eating a Devil Fruit.
All kinds of outrageous guesses flew around.
Some said Young Master Lynn was probably some rare race, born with invisible wings.
Others said it was simply a talent he had been born with, just like Conqueror's Haki—something that made no sense.
That fat bastard Queen even refused to give up, secretly trying to get some of Lynn's hair and blood for research. Kaido caught him red-handed and nearly crippled his legs before he finally behaved himself.
In the end, Kaido settled it with one hammer blow: "My son is just that fucking awesome! Got a problem with it? Keep it to yourself!"
That overbearing attitude immediately smothered everyone's curiosity.
In any case, everyone understood one thing: from the tips of his hair to his toenails, Young Master Lynn was a monster through and through!
Time flowed on.
One year later.
Onigashima, a massive open-air training ground.
A tiny figure wearing a miniature Beasts Pirates uniform floated steadily in midair.
His chubby little face was drawn tight in concentration as he muttered under his breath.
"Ki... ki sinks downward... th-then... here goes!"
Whoosh!
The tiny figure instantly became a blurred black streak, tearing through the air and leaving a long afterimage over the training ground!
He was so fast that he made people's eyes spin!
That little guy was Lynn, now one year and three months old.
After more than a year of growing and diligent practice, along with completing the system's first quest to survive his first year and receiving the reward [Massive Stamina Cap]—
his Flight Technique had become incredibly smooth. He could speed up whenever he wanted and stop whenever he wanted.
His body had filled out considerably too. Though he was still tiny compared to an adult, he could run, jump, tumble, and move as nimbly as a monkey.
The only minor flaw was that he still spoke somewhat haltingly, as though his tongue could never quite straighten out.
"Y-Young Master Lynn! P-Please fly slower!"
Below the training ground, several Beasts Pirates grunts assigned to watch over him had craned their necks so hard they nearly broke, their faces full of misery.
Once this little ancestor took off, he vanished without a trace. How were they, a bunch of ground-bound nobodies, supposed to keep up?
Lynn casually flipped through the air and landed lightly, a trace of smugness on his little face.
Just then.
Tap! Tap! Tap!
A set of frantic, uneven footsteps rushed closer.
A Beasts Pirates messenger, his face unable to hide his panic, stumbled and scrambled toward King the Conflagration, who was resting with his eyes closed nearby.
"B-Boss King! Something terrible happened!"
King slowly opened his eyes. His scarlet gaze swept over the messenger, and the invisible pressure made the man's voice tremble.
"What are you panicking for?" King's voice was low, with a metallic edge.
The messenger gulped and nearly shouted, "T-The G-58 Island under our control has suddenly come under attack from the main Marine fleet!"
"Leading them are... three Marine Headquarters Vice Admirals!"
"Onigumo, Dobberman, and Momonga!"
"Our brothers on the island can barely hold on! Lord Sasaki is on the island too, and the situation is extremely bad!"
King's masked face revealed no expression, but his suddenly narrowed pupils and the icy killing intent that surged from him showed the turmoil in his heart.
"Three Marine Headquarters Vice Admirals?"
"We seized a shipment of Marine weapons transports last time. They must have sent people to retaliate."
Without a moment's hesitation, he immediately ordered, "Spread the word! Gather our men and prepare the largest warships! We leave at once to reinforce them!"
"Yes!" The messenger accepted the order and turned to run.
But as King watched the messenger disappear, his gaze became grave.
G-58 Island was not close to Onigashima. Even if he gathered everyone and set out immediately at full speed, the round trip would still take quite some time.
Sasaki... he was fairly strong among the Tobi Roppo, but facing three Marine Headquarters Vice Admirals at once...
King knew that was almost an impossible task.
He only hoped that man could hold out a little longer—long enough for reinforcements to arrive.
Not far away, Lynn had heard the entire conversation clearly. His large black eyes rolled around a few times.
Marines?
Three Marine Headquarters Vice Admirals?
That unlucky guy Sasaki with the green hat... no, the unlucky guy who used the Spiral Blade was there too?
He instinctively licked his little lips, and the gears in his head immediately began clattering away.
[System Quest Two: Making a Name. Objective: Personally defeat 100 Marines (rank unrestricted).]
Wasn't this a pillow being delivered just as he got sleepy?!
With three Vice Admirals leading the force, how many ordinary Marine soldiers had to be there?
This was practically a monster-grinding dungeon custom-made for him!
He had to go!
If he did not go now, when would he?
While King and the other officers were busy mobilizing troops, with everyone's attention focused on the Marine assault—
Lynn's tiny figure slipped silently to the edge of the training ground like a nimble cat.
He looked around, making sure no one had noticed him.
With a thought—
Whoosh!
His tiny body rose into the air again. Skimming almost along the ground without making a sound, he shot toward the outskirts of Onigashima like an inconspicuous shadow!
At the same time.
G-58 Island.
The deafening roar of cannon fire nearly tore apart the sky!
Battle cries, screams, and the clash of weapons blended together.
Dozens of massive Marine warships, like steel beasts, had surrounded the entire island so tightly that not even water could pass through.
Their black cannon muzzles constantly spat fire. Dense shells rained down like hail upon the island's fortifications, blasting smoke, dust, and shattered stone high into the air.
Countless soldiers in white Marine uniforms poured from the landing craft like ants, carrying rifles and wielding swords as they howled and charged toward the Beasts Pirates stronghold on the island.
The beach was quickly stained dark red. Broken weapons and mangled limbs lay everywhere, while the air was thick with gunpowder smoke and blood.
In the island's central area, before a fortress that was on the verge of collapse under the bombardment.
"Damn it! Did these Marines take the wrong medicine?! They're like rabid dogs!"
Sasaki swung his bizarre spiral-shaped long blade, the Rasengan. As its spinning edge let out a piercing whistle, it cleaved a Marine officer attempting a sneak attack in half along with his sword!
He already had several wounds on his body. Blood had stained his green kimono red, his chest heaving as he panted heavily.
Around him, three figures with presences as heavy and still as mountains had him firmly surrounded.
Without exception, all three wore the white justice coats marking them as Marine Headquarters Vice Admirals. Their eyes were cold, their attacks ruthless, and their coordination seamless.
They were the Marine Headquarters Vice Admirals—"Mole" Momonga, "Onigumo" Onigumo, and "Fighting Dog" Dobberman!
