Background

Cai’er’s extraordinary talent was discovered at age three, when the Assassin Temple determined that her Innate Internal Spiritual Energy would exceed ninety. Rather than granting her a childhood, her family began preparing her as a weapon intended to assassinate the Demon God Emperor. Sheng Yue sent her alone into a cold, dark cave for seven days and nights, where she endured terror with only the Sword of Reincarnation beside her. 115

She gained the Sword of Reincarnation’s recognition and later awakened with both it and the Reincarnation Spirit Furnace merged into her body. Her Innate Internal Spiritual Energy rose to one hundred, but the furnace began taking away her senses, beginning with smell. 116
