Background / History

Before meeting Ye Chen, Snow Empress ruled the Far North and searched unsuccessfully for the Ice God’s inheritance. Despite her immense cultivation, she had not risked condensing the Yin-Yang Complementary dual Soul Cores possessed by Di Tian and Du Busi 38 39.

Ye Chen warned that she would fail her 700,000-year heavenly tribulation, use a Hundred-Thousand-Year Snow Lotus to take human form, and subsequently be captured. She initially resisted accepting this prediction: unlike Ice Empress, whose foundation had been damaged by a previous tribulation, Snow Empress still believed she might find another way forward 39.

The God of Time later revealed that the world in which they met was the Yin Realm, the spiritual counterpart of the physical Yang Realm. This distinction ultimately explained why Snow Empress could exist both as a preserved soul accompanying Ye Chen and as a captured, transforming Soul Beast on the ordinary Douluo Continent 86 95.

Appearance

Snow Empress resembles a mature human woman even before her actual human transformation 38 96.

  • Hair: Long, pure-white hair reaching her feet in her introductory and restored appearances; later battle descriptions depict it as ice-blue 38 68 79 95.
  • Eyes: Clear, ethereal sky-blue eyes 38 95.
  • Clothing: A plain white dress without decoration 38 95.
  • Build and bearing: Slender, with an aloof appearance compared to a winter-flowering plum blossom standing against snow and frost 95.

Personality

Snow Empress is composed, proud, and difficult to persuade. She questions Ye Chen’s knowledge of her future and refuses to surrender 680,000 years of cultivation on promises alone. Even after seeing him preserve a Soul Beast’s soul, she chooses to observe him before deciding whether to sacrifice herself 38 39 41.

Her protection is initially selective. She considers the Star Dou Great Forest Di Tian’s responsibility and agrees to safeguard Ye Chen rather than prevent the Body Sect from hunting its inhabitants. She can threaten weaker opponents with death without raising her voice, although she later shows restraint when a confrontation in Spirit City could endanger uninvolved Soul Masters 40 41 44 67.

Her reserve gradually softens around Ye Chen. She teases him for using affectionate names when seeking an embrace but addressing her plainly when assigning work. Eventually, she willingly chooses sacrifice, yet delays it because she wants more time beside him before entering slumber 57 82 84.

Her attachment to Ice Empress and Xiao Bai remains central after restoration. She asks to reunite with them before returning to the Body Sect and later worries that humanity’s technological and martial advancement could threaten the future of Soul Beasts 95 96.

Abilities & Skills

Ultimate Ice and Environmental Control

  • Stops a Far North blizzard, suspends snowflakes in midair, and fractures the icefield during her first appearance 38.
  • Freezes Spirit City’s sky, streets, buildings, and statues during her confrontation with Spirit Hall 68.
  • Opens an icy domain described as Emperor’s Cold Heaven, spreading ice through the surrounding airspace 79.
  • Her strength benefits from the Far North’s environment; borrowing its power allows her to contend with Du Busi despite his stronger aura 39.

Snow Empress’s Three Ultimates

Her signature techniques are collectively called the Three Ultimates or Three Absolutes. The supplied events identify two by name 51 52 68.

  • Emperor’s Coldness: Snow Dance Radiates the Sun — Creates an expansive ice-blue storm and freezing field capable of enveloping all of Spirit City 68.
  • Emperor’s Sword: Ice Extreme Unrivaled — Manifests an ice-crystal longsword and releases a sweeping Ultimate Ice blade arc. Her attack kills seven Spirit Hall Titled Douluo despite their defensive barriers and Martial Soul Avatars 68 69.
  • Divine-level limitation: Emperor’s Sword cannot withstand the Sea God avatar’s Never Return. Ye Chen must intervene to prevent the attack from killing her 79.

Time Law

After her restoration, Snow Empress possesses time-law power specially bestowed by Ye Chen and fully integrated into her Soul Rings 104.

  • Uses the Power of Time to seize Wang Dong’er while Ice Empress engages Tai Tan, acting before either adoptive father can stop her 103.
  • Her nine Soul Rings appear surrounded by a hazy mist produced by time law 104.

Pressure, Barriers, and Concealment

  • Uses Limit Douluo-level pressure to pin down Zhao Wuji, Dragon Duke, Snake Granny, and others while Ye Chen absorbs Xiao Wu’s Soul Ring 43 44.
  • Places a protective Soul Power barrier around Ye Chen that opponents below Limit Douluo cannot break 59.
  • Can conceal herself so thoroughly that even Du Busi would be unable to detect her 64.

Flight and Cultivation Support

  • Flies while carrying Ye Chen and can transform into a blizzard to transport him to Life Lake 44 49 59.
  • Refills Milk Bottle soul tools to sustain his prolonged cultivation; she cannot transfer her Soul Power directly into him 57 58.
  • Identifies inefficient herb cultivation and recommends gathering the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well’s energy through spatial power 58.

Technique Replication and Sacrifice

  • Ye Chen uses her blood with Void Reflection to reproduce Emperor’s Sword. His version combines her Ultimate Ice technique with spatial power 51 52.
  • Her sacrifice produces a red sixth Soul Ring marked with six golden patterns and an Ultimate Ice head Soul Bone for Ye Chen 88.
  • Snow Empress expects a complete sacrifice to transmit her Three Ultimates and an ability related to fusion with Ice Empress; this is stated as her expectation before the ritual 56.

Relationships

  • Ye Chen — Initially a prospective host whose claims she investigates; later her protected companion and romantic partner. He preserves her soul, reunites her with her original counterpart, and restores her human form. Their affection becomes openly mutual 39 84 95 96.
  • Ice Empress / Bing’er — Her sister and closest companion. Ice Empress sacrifices first so Snow Empress can continue evaluating Ye Chen; after restoration, Snow Empress persuades her to remain human alongside her 39 96.
  • Xiao Bai — Raised by Snow Empress and calls her “Mom.” Snow Empress comforts her before sacrifice and is moved that Ye Chen reserves a Soul Ring position for her 87 96.
  • Du Busi — Begins as a threatening human counterpart, then becomes a cooperative ally. He entrusts Ye Chen’s safety to her and prevents the Worship Hall from interfering when Spirit Hall attacks her 38 41 68.
  • Di Tian — Fellow powerful Soul Beast, but not someone she treats as a close companion. She distinguishes the Far North’s Ice God worship from the Star Dou Great Forest’s affiliations 41 98.
  • Qian Daoliu — Combat ally against Tang Chen and companion during the investigation into the Yin Realm’s nature 78 85 86.
  • Bibi Dong — Enemy who mistakes her for a vulnerable transformed Soul Beast and attempts to seize her Soul Ring and Soul Bones 67 68.
  • Wang Dong’er — Captured on Ye Chen’s orders. Snow Empress says she will not harm her and permits Niu Tian and Tai Tan to accompany her to the Body Sect 103 104.

Capture of Wang Dong’er

  • Waits in hiding for Niu Tian and Tai Tan rather than searching prematurely for the Sea God’s daughter and alerting her 102.
  • Uses time power during Ice Empress’s assault to capture Wang Dong’er, then escorts her and her adoptive fathers to meet Ye Chen 103 104.

Trivia

  • Snow Empress reads human storybooks and borrows a protective romantic line from them while teasing Ye Chen 64.
  • She repeatedly carries Ye Chen despite suspecting—and later recognizing—that he can travel without her help 56 74.
  • Her naturally humanlike appearance is not the same as undergoing human transformation; Bibi Dong’s failure to recognize this distinction leads to the Spirit City confrontation 38 68.
