Family and adoption

Du Busi is the younger brother of Du Bisou. Mu En killed his elder brother, leaving Du Busi with a longstanding desire for revenge that he initially lacked the strength to fulfill 100.

He found Ye Chen as a child and brought him to the Body Sect after noticing his unusually bright eyes. He intended to train the boy whether or not he awakened a Body Martial Soul. Ye Chen became his second disciple and was doted on by the sect’s members 5 7.

Before the sect’s displacement through time, Du Busi had already encountered Di Tian and participated in the Body Sect’s struggle against a beast tide 44.

Displacement into the past

Ye Chen’s Martial Soul awakening triggers Spacetime Turbulence, transporting the Body Sect, its mountain, and its inhabitants roughly ten thousand years into the past. Du Busi leaves Golden Body Douluo to stabilize the sect and takes Ye Chen to investigate. His immediate concern is the boy’s health rather than assigning blame for the disaster 1.

After learning that Ye Chen has inherited the God of Space’s legacy, Du Busi views him as a possible means of returning home. Discovering the era’s poor understanding of Body Martial Souls also gives him an opportunity to recruit disciples using the sect’s Second Awakening method 1 2.

Immortal Herbs and seclusion

Outside Notting City, Tang Hao demands that Ye Chen acknowledge Tang San as his master. Du Busi treats this as an insult to himself and the Body Sect and attacks. Tang Hao survives by detonating all nine Soul Rings and using his hammer strike as an escape feint 2 3.

Ye Chen redirects Du Busi toward the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well rather than immediately pursuing Tang Hao. There, Du Busi intimidates Dugu Bo into surrendering his herb garden and secures its Immortal Herbs for the sect. He chooses the Singular Velvet Sky Chrysanthemum for his breakthrough and receives the poison-amplifying Snow Colored Swan Kiss from Ye Chen 3 4 5.

After helping Ye Chen obtain his first two Soul Rings, Du Busi enters seclusion and entrusts his disciple to Golden Body Douluo. Over the following six years, he reaches Level 99 while the sect gains additional high-level experts 6 7 13.

Personality

Du Busi’s defining trait is fierce partiality toward his own people. He raises Ye Chen as a son, gives him freedom to act with the Body Sect’s backing, and is willing to challenge powerful sects and divine representatives to protect him. His affection is not conditional on Ye Chen’s talent: he planned to train him before knowing what Martial Soul he would awaken 5 7 77.

That loyalty coexists with extreme ruthlessness toward enemies. During the Clear Sky Sect campaign, he explicitly states that he keeps his word only to his own people, cancels further opportunities to bargain, and orders the sect destroyed and its treasury seized. He likewise refuses Mu En’s offer to settle their conflict through a personal duel while sparing Shrek Academy 53 100 101.

Despite his arrogance, Du Busi recognizes practical limits. He pursues Level 99 because his earlier strength is insufficient to reliably confront Qian Daoliu and Bo Saixi, delegates Ye Chen’s protection while managing the sect, and admits that his disciple’s understanding of space exceeds his own.
