Background

Ye Chen was taken in by Du Busi and raised within the Body Sect before his martial soul awakening. Du Busi intended to train him regardless of whether he developed a Body Martial Soul. 5

At awakening, Ye Chen manifested the Eye of Nihility, an eye-based Body Martial Soul containing spatial laws, and the Nine-Hearted Begonia, a healing Martial Soul containing temporal laws. Their laws intertwined and produced a Spacetime Turbulence that transported the entire Body Sect, its mountain, and its inhabitants into a world initially believed to be roughly ten thousand years in the past. 1

The God of Space granted Ye Chen an inheritance, whose first requirement was becoming a Soul Emperor within ten years. Du Busi viewed the inheritance as both Ye Chen’s opportunity and the Body Sect’s potential path home. 1

After arriving in the apparent past, Ye Chen quickly identified Tang San and Yu Xiaogang’s era. His contempt for Yu Xiaogang’s assessment of his martial souls began a lasting conflict with Tang San and those connected to him. 1 2

Ye Chen later questioned the destination’s nature after noticing the Sea God’s avatar’s resemblance to Tang San and inconsistencies in divine interference. He proposed that the Body Sect had entered a parallel or recreated world rather than genuinely traveled into its own past. After attaining divine power, Ye Chen returned to the original continent in Huo Yuhao’s era. He and Huo Yuhao had awakened their martial souls at the same time and were originally the same age, but the Body Sect’s time in the Yin Realm had passed at approximately twice the original continent’s rate. Ye Chen is confident, provocative, and dismissive toward people he considers weak or ignorant. He openly challenged Yu Xiaogang’s theories, humiliated Shrek Academy’s teachers and students, and repeatedly treated conventional Soul Master limits as irrelevant. 1 15 18

He is also highly strategic. Rather than kill Tang San immediately, Ye Chen intends to isolate him by eliminating his allies and support network while avoiding premature conflict with the Asura God King. 46

His loyalty to the Body Sect is genuine despite his willingness to deceive, coerce, or destroy outside factions for its benefit. Snow Empress specifically recognizes his attachment to the sect that raised him. 54

Ye Chen can be ruthlessly pragmatic in battle. He interrupted Xiao Wu’s sacrifice, restored her body through temporal power, and killed her himself to claim the resulting Hundred-Thousand-Year Soul Ring. 43

Shrek Academy Conflict

At age twelve, Ye Chen defeats Li Yusong, Tang San, and Zhao Wuji through superior physical strength, spatial control, and spiritual power. These victories establish his hostile rivalry with Tang San and Shrek Academy. 15 16 18

He also defeats Flender and secures the agreed payment of ten thousand Gold Soul Coins. Ning Rongrong abandons her plan to attend Shrek, while Zhu Zhuqing becomes his personal maid in exchange for protection and training.
