Function

Soul Rings are acquired power sources that integrate with a Soul Master’s Martial Soul. They provide Soul Power and can grant numbered Soul Skills; Ye Chen’s first two rings respectively granted Void Leap and Void Imprisonment. 6

A ring’s age and compatibility affect both its benefit and the danger of absorption. Ye Chen’s unusually strong body, spiritual power, Immortal Herb enhancements, and Nine-Hearted Begonia healing allowed him to absorb rings far above conventional limits. 6

Absorption Risks and Limits

• Absorbing an overly old ring can cause extreme physical damage. Ye Chen bled while taking his first ring and suffered seventeen bodily cracks while taking his second. 6
• The Nine-Hearted Begonia allowed Ye Chen to heal himself during absorption, preventing his body from bursting apart as long as he retained sufficient Soul Power. 6
• Conventional theory held that a 5,000-year ring should not be absorbed until the fourth ring slot, but Ye Chen absorbed one as his second ring. 6
• A Soul Beast’s preserved soul can reduce spiritual backlash. After Ye Chen restored and sealed the Mirror Shadow Beast’s soul, its 70,000-year ring was absorbed without a soul shock. 39

Soul Skills Granted by Rings

Void Leap

Ye Chen’s first Soul Skill teleports him eight meters and leaves a short-lived silver afterimage at his original location. Its range increases with Soul Power. 6

• Suitable for evasion, repositioning, and confusing opponents.
• After the third Nine Space Trial, Ye Chen could change direction twice during one leap, creating a Z-shaped movement path. 57

Void Imprisonment

Ye Chen’s second Soul Skill seals the space in a one-meter radius rather than targeting only one individual. 6

• Can suppress opponents near Ye Chen’s own level for several seconds.
• At Level 24, it could restrain a Soul King for no more than one second.
• It cannot normally hold a Level 98 Super Douluo such as Du Busi. 6

Spatial Severing

Ye Chen’s third Soul Skill creates an extremely fine spatial cut capable of bypassing ordinary physical defenses. 43

• It killed Xiao Wu immediately after Ye Chen reversed her attempted sacrifice. 43
• It was also used to kill the Mirror Shadow Beast before restoring and preserving its soul. 39

Void Reflection

Ye Chen’s sixth Soul Skill replicates Soul Skills that a target has previously used. 39

• Body Martial Souls, Ultimate Martial Souls, and Divine Martial Souls require the target’s blood for replication.
• Using Du Busi’s blood, Ye Chen copied Death Feast, producing an attack comparable to a Titled Douluo’s strike. 39
• Copying Death Feast consumed 80% of Ye Chen’s Soul Power, leaving him able to flee but not sustain another major attack. 39

Sacrifice-Related Soul Rings

• Ice Empress — Her sacrifice created a red Soul Ring and torso Soul Bone. Ye Chen used Temporal Reversal to repair her damaged soul, allowing her to continue existing in his Spirit Sea as a soul spirit. 40
• Soft Bone Rabbit — Xiao Wu’s Hundred-Thousand-Year ring became Ye Chen’s seventh ring and raised him to Level 76. Ye Chen considered her resulting Soul Bone unsuitable for himself. 44
• Thorn Dragon — Its sacrifice created Ye Chen’s eighth red ring and a 145,000-year right-leg Soul Bone. Its restored soul remains dormant within Ye Chen’s Spirit Sea. 56

Ring Detonation

Ring Detonation destroys Soul Rings to release an enormous burst of Soul Power.

• Tang Hao detonated all nine of his rings, including his Hundred-Thousand-Year ninth ring, to clash with Du Busi’s Death Feast and escape the battle. 3
• The detonation devastated the battlefield, leaving the outskirts of Notting City as toxic wasteland after the collision with Death Feast. 3
• Detonating all nine rings severely damaged Tang Hao’s body, splitting his skin with bloody cracks while amplifying the Clear Sky Hammer to catastrophic strength. 22
