Function

Soul Rings are acquired power sources that integrate with a Soul Master’s Martial Soul. They provide Soul Power and can grant numbered Soul Skills; Ye Chen’s first two rings respectively granted Void Leap and Void Imprisonment. 6

A ring’s age and compatibility affect both its benefit and the danger of absorption. Ye Chen’s unusually strong body, spiritual power, Immortal Herb enhancements, and Nine-Hearted Begonia healing allowed him to absorb rings far above conventional limits. 6

Soul Ring acquisition also supports breakthroughs at major cultivation thresholds. Ye Chen obtained his sixth ring to enter the Soul Emperor realm, his seventh to become a Soul Saint, his eighth to become a Soul Douluo, and his ninth to become a Titled Douluo. The energy of exceptionally powerful rings can also be used to condense Soul Cores, as demonstrated by the Deep Sea Demonic Whale King’s ring and the later sacrifices used to form his Time Soul Core. 39 44 55 56 78 88

The seventh ring is associated with the Martial Soul Avatar. Ye Chen therefore considered Xiao Wu’s otherwise unsuitable attribute acceptable for this slot, since the ring would be used for his avatar rather than a more specialized spatial skill. 16 40

Soul Rings do not automatically become god-level when their owner becomes a deity. Ye Chen explicitly distinguished them from Soul Bones, which would become divine equipment, and prioritized increasing ring ages to strengthen his Soul Skills before ascension. 90

Acquisition Methods

Compatibility and Selection

• Ye Chen’s Eye of Nihility required spatial-attribute Soul Beasts; spiritual power served as a supporting attribute during his initial ring search. Du Busi searched for a suitable beast rather than accepting an inferior match. 5
• Some spiritual Soul Beast rings can grant imitation abilities. Ye Chen cited the Silver Ying Beast as an example, but could not confirm whether its spiritual and agility attributes would suit the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Pagoda. 12
• Attribute matching is not absolute. Ye Chen’s time-attributed Nine-Hearted Begonia could absorb the ice-attributed Snow Empress’s ring, and Ice Empress’s ring and Soul Bone underwent changes under his time power. 38 40
• Ye Chen reserved the God-Given Soul Ring awarded by the second Space Trial for his second Martial Soul because time-attributed Soul Beasts were difficult to find. For his eighth spatial ring, he instead sought a suitable Hundred-Thousand-Year Soul Beast whose sacrifice could provide a larger immediate Soul Power increase. 55
• He later reserved a fourth-ring slot for Xiao Bai despite considering its age and attributes less suitable, out of consideration for Snow Empress. 87

God-Given Soul Rings

God-Given Soul Rings can produce Soul Skills suited to the recipient’s Martial Soul. Ye Chen regarded them as the ideal choice for his unusual Time Martial Soul, with high-age Ferocious Beast rings serving as substitutes when divine rings were unavailable. 38

• When considering his eighth ring, Ye Chen noted that a God-Given Soul Ring would grant one fewer Soul Skill than a Hundred-Thousand-Year Soul Beast ring, despite providing the most suitable ability. 55
• His third time ring and ninth time ring reached the million-year level, granting Burial of Time and Time’s End respectively. 84 92
• Snow Empress received a complete set of nine God-Given Soul Rings after Ye Chen restored her human form and strength. 95
• Ye Guyi’s six rings were all God-Given, with a configuration of four black and two red despite her being only a Soul Emperor. 96

Ye Chen predicted that humans would eventually create their own Soul Rings even if Soul Beasts became extinct. This was presented as his assessment of humanity’s future under the world’s existing rules, rather than a documented acquisition method already in use. 96

Ring Age and Color

Some exceptionally old rings display golden markings in addition to their principal color.

Divine Age Enhancement

Divine Trials can increase the ages of already-absorbed Soul Rings, strengthening a configuration without replacing its original sources. This can change ring colors: Ye Chen’s second ring became black after crossing into the ten-thousand-year range, while his fifth later became red. 67 90

• After the third Space Trial, Ye Chen’s first ring was still 1,000 years short of becoming ten-thousand-year. 57
• The fifth trial’s enhancement brought his nearly million-year whale king ring to the million-year level. 84
• Ye Chen later learned that the God of Time had secretly supplemented the unusually generous rewards he had attributed to the God of Space’s trials. 87
• Once his Soul Power reached its upper limit, later trials allowed him to choose additional ring-age enhancement instead of Soul Bone enhancement. 90 92
• Upon completing the Spacetime Joint Eighth Trial, every one of Ye Chen’s rings exceeded 100,000 years. 92

A deity can also improve another person’s rings directly. Ye Chen upgraded the resurrected Spirit Hall Titled Douluos’ ninth rings to Hundred-Thousand-Year rings, while granting Qian Daoliu nine Hundred-Thousand-Year rings. 106

Absorption Risks and Limits

• Absorbing an overly old ring can cause extreme physical damage. Ye Chen bled while taking his first ring and suffered seventeen bodily cracks while taking his second. 6
• The Nine-Hearted Begonia allowed Ye Chen to heal himself during absorption, preventing his body from bursting apart as long as he retained sufficient Soul Power. 6
• Conventional theory held that a 5,000-year ring should not be absorbed until the fourth ring slot, but Ye Chen absorbed one as his second ring. 6
• A Soul Beast’s preserved soul can reduce spiritual backlash. After Ye Chen restored and sealed the Mirror Shadow Beast’s soul, its 70,000-year ring was absorbed without a soul shock. 39
• Physical endurance and spiritual resistance are separate considerations. The Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well’s tempering improved Ye Chen’s bodily tolerance, while his enhanced spiritual power was sufficient to suppress the soul shock of a ten-thousand-year ring during his first absorption. 6
• Du Busi remained prepared to interrupt Ye Chen’s absorption if a genuine crisis arose, relying on the Nine-Hearted Begonia to restore him afterward. 6
• At Level 59, Ye Chen still considered a Hundred-Thousand-Year sixth ring difficult to withstand and postponed taking Xiao Wu’s ring until the seventh slot. 16
• Ice Empress transferred her torso Soul Bone before her ring to test the process. Her Soul Power and soul placed a substantial burden on Ye Chen despite his Titled Douluo-level spiritual power and strong physique. 40 44
• By Level 99, Ye Chen’s body could perfectly absorb even a million-year ring. He also safely accepted several Ferocious Beast sacrifices in succession and preserved all four souls with Temporal Reversal. 88

Soul Skills Granted by Rings

Void Leap

Ye Chen’s first Soul Skill teleports him eight meters and leaves a short-lived silver afterimage at his original location. Its range increases with Soul Power. 6

• Suitable for evasion, repositioning, and confusing opponents.
• After the third Nine Space Trial, Ye Chen could change direction twice during one leap, creating a Z-shaped movement path. 57

Void Imprisonment

Ye Chen’s second Soul Skill seals the space in a one-meter radius rather than targeting only one individual. 6

• Can suppress opponents near Ye Chen’s own level for several seconds.
• At Level 24, it could restrain a Soul King for no more than one second.
• It cannot normally hold a Level 98 Super Douluo such as Du Busi. 6
• Its suppression strength and duration increase with cultivation, with its duration described as capable of reaching five seconds. 6
• At Level 59, Ye Chen used it to immobilize Li Yusong and the golden dragon phantom produced by Li’s sixth Soul Skill. 15

Spatial Severing

Ye Chen’s third Soul Skill creates an extremely fine spatial cut capable of bypassing ordinary physical defenses. 43

• It killed Xiao Wu immediately after Ye Chen reversed her attempted sacrifice. 43
• It was also used to kill the Mirror Shadow Beast before restoring and preserving its soul. 39
• Ye Chen used it to slice apart Li Yusong’s golden dragon phantom and severely wound Li himself. 15

Void Rift

Ye Chen’s fifth Soul Skill opens spatial cracks that tear apart or engulf targets. 49 79

• Six rifts destroyed the Clear Sky Hammers of six elite disciples and killed their wielders. The two Soul Kings were swallowed by spatial turbulence, while the four Soul Ancestors were shredded. 49
• Against the Sea God’s avatar, dozens of converging cracks removed part of the incoming trident attack’s golden light and reduced its speed by twenty percent, but did not stop it. 79

Void Reflection

Ye Chen’s sixth Soul Skill replicates Soul Skills that a target has previously used. 39

• Body Martial Souls, Ultimate Martial Souls, and Divine Martial Souls require the target’s blood for replication.
• Using Du Busi’s blood, Ye Chen copied Death Feast, producing an attack comparable to a Titled Douluo’s strike. 39
• Copying Death Feast consumed 80% of Ye Chen’s Soul Power, leaving him able to flee but not sustain another major attack. 39
• Ordinary weapon and beast Martial Souls do not require blood for replication. 39

Time-Mark Frost Armor

The first Soul Skill of Ye Chen’s second Martial Soul was bestowed by Ice Empress. It produces icy crystal armor covered with temporal patterns and can operate in conjunction with her torso Soul Bone. 80

• Ye Chen activated it while defending against the Sea God’s attack. 80

Burial of Time

The third Soul Skill of Ye Chen’s second Martial Soul comes from a million-year God-Given Soul Ring. It forces a target’s future decline to occur immediately, compressing years or decades of deterioration into a single breath. 84

• Its enormous energy consumption limits its practical use. 84

Eighth Time Soul Skill

Ye Chen’s eighth God-Given ring granted a domain-like Soul Skill. Its name and detailed effects were not specified when he absorbed it. 90

Time’s End

The ninth Soul Skill of Ye Chen’s second Martial Soul is an ultimate time-domain ability granted by a million-year God-Given Soul Ring. It forcibly drags targets to the end of their timelines, bringing everything within its range to an end. 92

• All living beings below the divine level within the domain meet their end.
• Deities can also be affected despite their endless lifespan, because their existence includes a period before attaining godhood. 92

Fusion and Related Abilities

Completion of the Spacetime Joint Eighth Trial allowed Ye Chen’s space- and time-type Soul Skills to be fused and released with superimposed effects. After inheriting the Time Godhead, his time-element Soul Master skills entered an instinctive level of mastery. 92 94

Not every technique used alongside a Soul Ring is granted by that ring. Void Disintegration is a self-created Soul Skill, while Spatial Strangulation, Thorn Flash Leap, Thorn Body, Whale Abyss Sky Rending, and Deep-Sea Pressure are identified as Soul Bone skills. 56 79 80 84

Sacrifice-Related Soul Rings

• Ice Empress — Her sacrifice created a red Soul Ring and torso Soul Bone. Ye Chen used Temporal Reversal to repair her damaged soul, allowing her to continue existing in his Spirit Sea as a soul spirit. Her ring became the first ring of his second Martial Soul and granted Time-Mark Frost Armor. Both her ring and Soul Bone were altered by his time attribute. 40 80
• Soft Bone Rabbit — Xiao Wu’s Hundred-Thousand-Year ring became Ye Chen’s seventh ring and raised him to Level 76. Ye Chen considered her resulting Soul Bone unsuitable for himself. Although connected to an attempted sacrifice, the ring Ye Chen actually absorbed emerged after he reversed her sacrifice to Tang San and killed her with Spatial Severing. 43 44
• Thorn Dragon — Its sacrifice created Ye Chen’s eighth red ring and a 145,000-year right-leg Soul Bone. Its restored soul remains dormant within Ye Chen’s Spirit Sea. 56
• Xiao Bai, the Ice Bear King — Its sacrifice formed the fourth red ring of Ye Chen’s second Martial Soul. Its power, together with Wanyaowang’s, supported the formation of his Time Soul Core and breakthrough to Level 99. 88
• Wanyaowang — Willingly sought sacrifice as a way to escape the parallel world and pursue eternal life. Became the fifth red ring of Ye Chen’s second Martial Soul. 87 88
• Snow Empress — Became the sixth ring of Ye Chen’s second Martial Soul, a red ring bearing six golden patterns, and supplied his head Soul Bone. Her sacrifice raised him to the peak of Level 99. 88
• Bi Ji — Requested sacrifice to leave the parallel world. Became the seventh ring of Ye Chen’s second Martial Soul and supplied his final left-leg Soul Bone. 87 88

Soul Preservation

Ye Chen can restore the shattered souls of sacrificed beasts with Temporal Reversal and gather them into his Spirit Sea. This allowed Xiao Bai, Wanyaowang, Snow Empress, and Bi Ji to retain their souls after transferring their power. Preserving several souls at once did not substantially increase the difficulty because his technique operated through time reversal. 88

The resulting preserved existence is not necessarily equivalent to a conventional soul-spirit system. The Thorn Dragon remained dormant, and Ye Chen’s preservation method relied on his time power rather than the soul-spirit techniques associated with Electrolux. 40 56

Complete and Interrupted Sacrifice

• Xiao Wu attempted to sacrifice both her life and her soul to Tang San, completely merging her soul into the intended ring and apparently eliminating the possibility of resurrection through ordinary means. Ye Chen nevertheless reversed the process before killing her himself. 43
• The Thorn Dragon’s sacrifice transferred its broader inheritance as well as its ring and Soul Bone. Ye Chen acquired Void Thorn Domain and Void Thorn Spikes, while its right-leg Soul Bone granted Thorn Flash Leap and Thorn Body. 56
• The Deep Sea Demonic Whale King offered to sacrifice itself if its consciousness could be preserved. Ye Chen rejected the offer and obtained its ring through a direct kill. 78

Ring Detonation

Ring Detonation destroys Soul Rings to release an enormous burst of Soul Power.

• Tang Hao detonated all nine of his rings, including his Hundred-Thousand-Year ninth ring, to clash with Du Busi’s Death Feast and escape the battle. 3
• The detonation devastated the battlefield, leaving the outskirts of Notting City as toxic wasteland after the collision with Death Feast. 3
• Detonating all nine rings severely damaged Tang Hao’s body, splitting his skin with bloody cracks while amplifying the Clear Sky Hammer to catastrophic strength. 22
