Background / History
Tang Ya was the young sect master of the declining Tang Sect and a Shrek Academy Outer Courtyard disciple. With the Tang Sect lacking resources and talented recruits, she and Beibei traveled to the outskirts of the Star Dou Great Forest to seek a suitable soul ring for her. 36
When she encountered Huo Yuhao, she initially tried to recruit him into the Tang Sect, offering assistance in obtaining a first soul ring, Shrek Academy admission, Tang Sect secret arts, Hidden Weapons, and movement techniques. Her insensitive reaction to the news of Huo Yuhao's mother’s death, however, alienated him. 37
Tang Ya blamed the Heaven Soul Sect for the Tang Sect’s downfall and attacked Lin Wan'er after learning of her connection to that sect. Lin Wan'er defeated her with little effort, then exposed the history of the Four Sects and argued that the Tang Sect’s decline stemmed from its own legacy and Tang San’s actions. The revelations left Tang Ya devastated and uncertain of her loyalty to the Tang Sect. 38 39 41
She later fell into darkness, left Shrek Academy, and returned to reclaim the territory once belonging to the Tang Sect. During her conflict with the Iron Blood Sect, her dormant life-devouring talent awakened through the Dark Blue Silver Grass, marking her as an Evil Soul Master by Shrek Academy’s standards. 115 116
After Tang Ya killed Tie Li in revenge for her parents, Lin Wan'er placed a red bead on her forehead. Tang Ya absorbed it and inherited the Rakshasa God’s remnant power and consciousness. Lin Wan'er subdued the Rakshasa God’s consciousness and bound it by contract before Tang Ya regained control of her body. 116 117
Tang Ya eventually pledged herself to the Plant Sect and asked Lin Wan'er to remove the Tang Sect techniques from her, intending to sever herself from the Tang Sect’s inheritance. 118
Appearance
Following the Rakshasa God inheritance, Tang Ya’s appearance becomes physically mature and markedly more ominous than before. She is described as looking closer to a woman in her twenties than the fifteen- or sixteen-year-old girl she had been. 117
- A ferocious red mark appears on her chest. 117
- Her arms develop a row of barbs; similar barbed outlines appear on her legs. 117
- Her legs bear twisted scars resembling worms embedded in the flesh. 117
- Her eyes can turn blood-red with web-like black patterns when the Rakshasa God’s instincts surface. 117
- She later manifests a third eye on her forehead containing the Rakshasa God’s consciousness. 118
Personality
Tang Ya is initially impulsive, spoiled, jealous, and quick to speak without considering the effect of her words. She reacts possessively toward Beibei, resents Lin Wan'er’s presence, and tries to solve perceived threats through immediate confrontation. 36 37 38
Her devotion to rebuilding the Tang Sect is genuine, but it makes her vulnerable to Lin Wan'er’s arguments and manipulation. Learning that Tang San may have been responsible for the Tang Sect’s decline and broader suffering shatters her confidence in its legacy. 39 41
After her descent into darkness and Rakshasa inheritance, hatred and revenge initially dominate her actions. Later, she becomes more mature, learns etiquette, no longer casually reopens others’ wounds, and values her new position among the Plant Sect and Star Dou Great Forest’s core members. 116 117 137
