Background

Tang Chen was reincarnated into Douluo Continent after an accident in his previous life. His grandfather, Tang Yuan, had married into the Clear Sky Sect and served it as a Soul Douluo, while Tang Chen’s parents died carrying out sect missions. After Tang Yuan was crippled protecting the sect, the family was marginalized, deprived of proper medicine, and eventually expelled. 1 2

The Clear Sky Sect rejected Tang Chen because he appeared to have only a sapling Martial Soul and Innate Soul Power Level 2. Rather than use the Clear Sky Hammer offered by his Choice System to regain the sect’s acceptance, Tang Chen chose the Life Ancient Tree and Destruction Scepter, deciding that the sect was not worth submitting to. 1

After leaving the sect with Tang Yuan, Tang Chen completed his twin Martial Soul awakening in the wilderness. His ability to balance life and destruction attracted the Goddess of Life and God of Destruction, who recognized him as a qualified candidate for their respective Godhoods. 2 3 4
