Background / History

Zhu Zhuqing grew up in an environment of family competition, where relatives struggled for survival and inheritance. She later explains that Tang Chen is the first person to treat her as a companion without demanding that she prove herself. 14

While fleeing through the Star Dou Great Forest, she is hunted by Soul Masters of the Star Luo Imperial Family. Wounded and depleted, she is rescued when Tang Chen kills her pursuers, then completely heals her injuries and restores much of her Soul Power with a Leaf of Life. 9

Although Tang Chen initially offers protection only until they leave the forest, Zhu Zhuqing chooses to remain with him and Tang Yuan. She promises that she will contribute to the group rather than hide behind them, citing both the continuing danger from the Star Luo Imperial Family and her desire to cultivate further. 10 11

Over the following years, she cultivates beside Tang Chen, gathers medicinal herbs for the group, and develops greater trust and affection for him. She also becomes more resolved to stand beside him in the future rather than remain someone he must protect. 13 25
