Skill Card: Hell's Gate (Don't misunderstand, it just opens a door.) Skill Card: Soul Manipulation (Unstoppable against ordinary people.)
He had not drawn a Character Card, which was a little disappointing, but overall he was satisfied. That Skill Card, "Hell's Gate," made Russell instinctively think of the "Gate of Heaven" he had used before.
Midnight wore a suit and top hat, with a scarf and cigar. He was a Black man with the air of a major player. And since he was Black, naturally he had to have thick gold chains, so Midnight was draped in all kinds of precious metals.
"John Constantine, it has been a while. Got any more holy relics to sell?"
The moment they met, Midnight began mocking him. His relationship with Constantine was complicated. Sometimes they were enemies, sometimes allies—it all depended on profit.
"No, I quit that line of work a long time ago."
"Yeah, it would shorten your life!"
Midnight's words carried plenty of hostility. Not long ago, Constantine had sold fake holy artifacts here and swindled him out of a huge sum of American dollars.
Perhaps seeing that Constantine did not have long to live and that his soul had caught the attention of some big shot, Midnight secretly took pleasure in it. After a few mocking remarks, he could not be bothered to pursue the matter of the counterfeit goods.
"John, you know the rules here. You shouldn't bring ordinary people inside." Midnight's gaze swept over Angela, and he immediately became displeased. But he soon put that displeasure aside and began sizing Russell up from head to toe.
"Midnight, this is Russell, my good friend," Constantine introduced. Then he added, "He's an angel!"
"What kind of angel?"
"The purest kind."
"Heh heh!"
Midnight gave an unreadable laugh.
