Hermione did not even need her to say anything to guess what she wanted to say. Somewhat speechless, she closed her book and stood up. "Fine, but I'm coming with you."

She paused before finally laughing. "I'm afraid someone might really start treating herself like a punching bag."

Harry's face immediately flushed red. If they had not been in the library, she probably would have argued with Hermione on the spot.

Vera looked at them, the corners of her lips unconsciously curving up. "Then it's settled."

Interrupting a Young Couple's Date Gets You Hung Up and Whipped

The early winter sunlight was warm without being harsh. It spilled over the lush green lawn, while a light breeze carried the fresh scent of grass and trees.

The pitch was empty, making it the perfect time to fly.

Harry took out her Nimbus 2000 and happily began adjusting it.

A flying broom was not actually just a bare stick, despite how it looked. It had quite a few invisible seats designed for comfort and proper body mechanics.

Depending on the user's age, gender, and weight, the broom could also adapt itself to the relevant parameters.

Hermione watched Harry's movements from the side, occasionally reminding her to be careful. All she received in return were Harry's somewhat helpless responses.

Vera wheeled herself to the center of the pitch and looked up at the clear blue sky, lost in thought for a moment.

It seemed like... it had been a long time since she had enjoyed looking up at the sky like this.

No matter what she had experienced since coming to this world, the sky before her was no different from the one she had seen in her previous life.

Only after Harry finally finished adjusting the broom did she confidently straddle it, floating lightly over to Vera and holding out a hand. "Come on, I'll help you up."

Vera came back to herself. Looking at Harry's outstretched hand, she hesitated before nodding. "Mm."

She took Harry's hand. It was warm and strong, supporting her as she carefully used it to rise from her wheelchair.

Then Harry gave a tug and pulled her steadily onto the broom.

The Nimbus 2000 was far more stable than Vera had imagined. Sitting behind Harry, Vera glanced uncertainly at the ground hanging beneath them.

The sensation of having both feet off the ground made her nervous and excited at the same time.

She had never flown like this in her previous life.

"Hold on tight around my waist," Harry reminded her over her shoulder. "I can fly slowly."

As the broom gradually rose, Vera instinctively wrapped both arms around Harry's waist. Feeling the slight sway as the broom lifted, she pressed her face against Harry's back.

The breeze brushed over her cheeks, and Vera unconsciously tightened her arms.

"Don't be scared," Harry's voice drifted back through the wind. "I'm super steady!"

As the broom climbed higher, the ground slowly receded, and Hermione's figure below grew smaller and smaller.

"How does it feel?" Harry called out.

Vera took a deep breath, the corners of her mouth lifting on their own. "...Amazing."

Hearing her, Harry turned back happily. "Right? I fell in love with this feeling the first time I flew!"

The breeze swept across their faces, and the sunlight warmed their bodies. It felt as though every restraint had temporarily disappeared.

Vera gradually relaxed, even daring to release one hand and reach toward a bird flying close by.

This was the first time since coming to this world that she had felt so utterly free.

Harry seemed to sense her feelings and gently picked up speed.

They circled above the pitch, flying higher and higher.

Vera raised her head, her silver-gray hair dancing in the wind. Sunlight streamed through the clouds and gilded her silhouette with a golden edge.

"A little higher..." she said softly.

Harry nodded, and the broom climbed again.

The castle gradually unfolded in full before them. The Black Lake shimmered like a mirror, while the treetops of the Forbidden Forest resembled a green ocean.

"Vera," Harry suddenly said, "your legs can be healed, right? I mean... I can help look for a way too."

Vera froze slightly, then shook her head. "That isn't your responsibility."

"But I want to do it." Harry's voice was firm and gentle. "I want to fly with you, run and jump with you. There are so many things we can do."

Warmth surged through Vera's heart. She gently leaned against Harry's back. "Thank you, Harry."

"Harry! Don't fly so high!" Hermione shouted anxiously from the ground. "Be careful!"

But neither of them could hear her at that moment.

"Want something more exciting?"

Before Vera could answer, Harry sent the broom into a beautiful dive. Vera cried out and clung tightly to her.

"Ha ha ha!" Harry laughed happily. "See? I told you it was exciting!"

They circled, dived, and flipped through the sky above the pitch, just like the birds that had always been free.

Vera's silver-gray hair flew in the wind. Sunlight passed through the strands, scattering tiny gleams of light.

She felt the wind brushing past her fingertips, felt her heart pounding fiercely with every dive and climb.

"Harry!" She finally could not help laughing. "Slow down, it's too fast!"

Harry turned to look at her, her green eyes brimming with pure joy. "You really look beautiful when you smile like that!"

Vera paused slightly at those words, and a faint pink crept over the tips of her ears.

She instinctively turned her face away, but the wind blowing toward her scattered the heat from her cheeks.

"We should head back," she said softly. "Hermione looks really worried."

Only then did Harry notice Hermione constantly waving from below. Somewhat embarrassed, she prepared to descend.

Just then, Hermione's scream came from the ground. "Watch out!"

The two looked up and finally noticed a Bludger flying at them from nowhere!

Harry reacted quickly, yanking the broom sharply aside and narrowly avoiding it.

"Why is there a Bludger here?"

Vera gripped Harry's shoulder tightly and immediately spotted a group of students in Slytherin Quidditch uniforms entering through the pitch entrance with brooms in hand.

Harry instantly recognized the Slytherin captain at the front, Marcus Flint. He was smugly holding up his broom, and it was obvious that he had deliberately released that Bludger.

"Potter, what are you doing, playing around with your little crippled girlfriend?" Flint drawled, drawing a burst of laughter from his teammates.

Harry's expression darkened instantly.

Vera felt Harry's body tense at once. She gently pressed Harry's shoulder. "Calm down. Let's get down first."

Harry took a deep breath and sent the broom into a steep dive, stopping abruptly just a few feet from Flint and kicking up a cloud of dust.

"Do you know what you're doing?!" Harry jumped off the broom, her wand pointed directly at Flint. "Apologize to us right now!"

Flint and his teammates broke into harsh laughter, paying no attention to Harry's anger.

After all, a first-year student who could barely manage a Levitation Charm—how much damage could she possibly do to them?

"What is it, Potter? Want to fight?" Flint took a provocative step forward, looking down at Harry from above.

"We got permission from our Head of House to practice here. You're the ones occupying our pitch."

"That's right. Why don't you get lost already?"

Listening to the Slytherins' mocking words, Harry's jaw clenched tightly. Dangerous light had begun flickering at the tip of her wand. "You nearly hurt Vera just now!"

Flint shrugged, completely unconcerned. "I already said it was an accident. Besides... what is someone who can't even stand up doing causing trouble on a pitch?"

The moment those words came out, not only Harry, but even Hermione—who had just helped Vera back into her wheelchair—stepped forward in fury.

"Flint, you've gone too far!" Hermione's voice trembled with anger. "I'm telling Professor McGonagall!"

But that only earned more laughter from the Slytherins.

"Shut up!" Harry swung her wand sharply, about to cast a spell when a whistling sound tore through the air beside her—

It was the Bludger that had flown away earlier. It had somehow returned and struck Flint squarely in the nose!

"Argh!" Flint cried out in pain. Clutching his bleeding nose, he was knocked straight to the ground.

Everyone, Harry included, froze.

"Just an accident." Vera's calm voice came from behind them. It was not loud, but everyone heard it clearly. "Just like you said, Mr. Flint."

Flint's teammates exchanged looks. No one had seen how Vera had done it.

"You... how dare you..." Flint covered his nose and barely managed to get back to his feet, his voice twisted by pain.

Vera slowly wheeled herself forward. "If you're unhappy about it, you can go complain to your Head of House.

But before that, I suggest you go to the Hospital Wing and have your nose treated."

Her voice was terrifyingly calm, and her icy gaze made even the tall, broad Flint instinctively take a step back.

He could not help swallowing.

The Grinding Mobs Are Here

Flint covered his nose. For some reason, he instinctively wanted to retreat.

But he quickly realized that he seemed to have shown weakness in front of his teammates.

Out of the corner of his eye, he could see them watching him, whether intentionally or not.

In Slytherin, after all, strength was important in addition to bloodline and reputation.

If he backed down before a first-year student in front of everyone, would his teammates still listen to his commands in the future?

So Flint could only force himself to straighten up and glare viciously at Vera. "Who do you think you are? If you have the guts, then—"

"A duel?" Vera interrupted, steering the conversation in a direction that made it even harder for him to back down. "If you want to embarrass yourself again, I can oblige."

Flint's face reddened. His eyes widened slightly in surprise, and he did not know how to respond.

He had never intended to duel, much less against a first-year student who was also disabled!

"What, scared?" Vera asked calmly. The contempt in her voice, however, struck directly at a teenager's sensitive pride.

Flint's face immediately turned the color of liver. Under his teammates' gazes, he took several deep breaths before stepping forward and looking down at her. "Fine. You brought this on yourself."

Harry and Hermione both sucked in sharp breaths.

Hermione hurriedly grabbed Vera's arm and lowered her voice as much as she could. "Vera, but your body—"

"It'll be fine." Vera calmly patted the back of Hermione's hand in reassurance, then fearlessly met Flint's eyes. "Trash like him can't hurt me."

Everyone was stunned by the confidence in her words. Even Flint had nothing to say for a moment.

"Then it's settled." Vera pushed her wheelchair forward. "After dinner tonight, in the abandoned classroom on the fifth floor. You can bring a few more people... to carry you back."

Flint was thoroughly enraged, his chest heaving nonstop. "Fine! I can deal with you with one hand!"

Vera smiled faintly. "Then I'll see you tonight, Mr. Flint... Oh, and I hope everyone here has enough sense not to leak this to anyone else, including the teachers."

She paused, then raised her head and asked, "Mr. Flint, as their captain, you can speak for them, can't you?"

Flint snorted and swept his gaze across his teammates. "Of course! Right?"

After all, privately agreeing to a duel was against the rules too. If anyone here leaked it, punishment would be the least of their problems.

More importantly... if he got caught, he might not even be able to play in the upcoming Quidditch matches.

Then he would lose the position of Quidditch captain that he had worked so hard to obtain.

But Vera's words had already forced him into a corner. Even if Flint was unwilling, he had no choice but to accept the fight.

Seeing the Slytherins present reluctantly nod under their captain's authority, Vera raised an eyebrow in satisfaction and wheeled straight past them.

Harry angrily put away her wand, but before leaving, she still clenched her fist and waved it at Flint. "I hope you can still stand and talk by then!"

Hermione also shot Flint a fierce glare before quickly following Vera.

The Slytherin players exchanged looks, clearly not expecting things to develop like this.

Worse still, their captain actually turned around and stared at them with a gloomy expression. "For the upcoming House Cup, you won't tell anyone, right?"

The three left the pitch. On the way back to the castle, Harry stayed beside Vera's wheelchair, looking worried the entire time.
