The Shadow Gu caught the scent of fresh blood, and its eyes brightened. Its pink tongue shot out like lightning, swept up the drop, and swallowed it. Wisps of bloody light rose from its body, and it perked up at once, letting out two cheerful coos.

Each rise in a Magical Artifact's grade brought a tremendous increase in power, but also made it harder to control.
