Seeing Nick preparing to take a carriage back, Romon thought for a moment and said, "We can talk about this later. There's nothing much left to do here anyway, so I'll go with you!"
Naturally, Nick had no objection. After Romon greeted the gatekeeper and climbed into the carriage, Nick became very interested in the parcel Romon was carrying. "Is that a gift? Who exactly sent it over?"
At the end, he added, "If it's inconvenient, you don't have to say."
Romon shot him another contemptuous look and said somewhat blankly, "The God of Protection Church sent someone specially to deliver this gift just now—a Knight, no less. Sending a Knight to deliver a parcel like this... I really have no idea what could be inside."
Hearing Romon say that, Nick's curiosity was stirred as well. "Open it and take a look. See what's inside!"
Romon nodded. He could not suppress his own curiosity either and wanted to open the parcel at once to see what was inside.
Recalling what that Knight had said earlier, Romon shook his head. Armor?
Impossible. Wouldn't armor be huge and heavy?
The outermost layer of the parcel was oilcloth, wrapped tightly around it. Once that layer was removed, an exquisitely crafted box appeared inside.
The box had a certain smell to it, rather like a case for Knight armor, but its proportions were far too small.
He had thought opening the box would reveal the gift within. Yet after exerting himself several times in the carriage, the box did not budge in the slightest.
"We can't look at this gift for now." After probing the box, Romon withdrew his spiritual power and spoke to Nick beside him.
"Why? You can't open it?" Nick had been waiting eagerly to see it, only to hear that.
