"What did you say? That Romon actually advanced again?" Two men were talking in a secret room inside an inn that looked perfectly ordinary from the outside.
The first to speak looked like the proprietor, a man in his thirties, not quite forty. Though slightly plump and beginning to put on weight, he did not look cumbersome at all. He looked quite energetic.
"Yes, he advanced again. This time, I heard he became an eighteenth-level Druid," the other man added when asked.
"An eighteenth-level Druid... Is the information reliable?" The proprietor paused to consider, then asked.
If this was true, it was startling news indeed.
"Many people have already confirmed it. The information is absolutely reliable," the other man said hastily. To prove its accuracy, he listed several sources through which the news could be obtained.
"Good. This information is very useful. Go collect your payment, and gather more news like this in the future." Satisfied that the man was telling the truth, the proprietor praised him happily and dismissed him.
Once he was alone in the room, the proprietor thought for a while and decided he had to send the news out as quickly as possible.
He turned and approached a cabinet, carefully moving it aside to reveal a hidden door in the wall.
The proprietor stepped through the hidden door and carefully closed it behind him. There were no lamps, but another kind of bright light illuminated the secret chamber.
The light radiated outward from the floor, its source a formation laid out in the shape of a six-pointed star.
Rather than approaching the star immediately, the proprietor went to a table nearby. He picked up the paper and pen lying there, quickly wrote a letter, folded it, and placed it inside the star formation.
The paper used
