History

Sargatanas first targets Hokage after marking Neji and sabotaging Sasuke. Demonic energy cannot invade Hokage's mind because an outside force, apparently the Sage of Six Paths, disperses it. Sargatanas then snaps Hokage's neck, but the resulting Nine-Tails eruption forces him to withdraw 2.

Afterward, Hokage isolates himself at home and cries privately for several days. ANBU reports that he eventually stabilizes and does not appear to resent Konoha despite its treatment of him 4. He continues living alone while enduring ostracism from villagers; his fear and conditioning are so severe that he cannot accept Ayame's invitation into Ichiraku Ramen 8.

At the Academy, Hokage seeks attention through pranks and watches Sasuke from a distance. He later forms a sincere bond with Iruka, which contrasts with his continued exclusion by Sasuke and Neji 9 17 23. He graduates and is assigned to Team 7 alongside Sasuke and Sakura under Kakashi Hatake 27 28.

Hokage enters the Chūnin Exams, receives help from Hinata during the written stage, and witnesses Sasuke's lethal conduct in the Forest of Death 36. Orochimaru attacks him, recognizes his identity, and implants a Curse Mark after Hokage uses Shadow Clones and Rasengan against him 37. Personality

Hokage is initially energetic, reckless, and attention-seeking. He uses pranks to force interaction with others, dreams of becoming Hokage, and measures success through acknowledgment from the village 28 33. Rejection hurts him, but he repeatedly regains his confidence rather than remaining discouraged 28.

His resilience exists alongside profound emotional damage. Hokage grows up isolated, struggles to accept kindness, and later becomes vulnerable to paranoia and the Nine-Tails' manipulation 8 88. His need for companionship makes him receptive to Orochimaru's reassurance and especially susceptible to the Nine-Tails' claim of maternal affection 88 158.
