Why Wasn't It Lu Mi?

The shackles were put back on his hands.

Yu Tu raised his hand to look at them, then looked at the prison officers in white uniforms before him. His gaze swept past them and landed on Ming Qiuxue in the distance.

At last, he tilted his head slightly toward Cang Qi. "Why... wasn't it Lu Mi?"

Yu Tu was a little irritated.

Lu Mi had promised to come pick him up himself!

"Hey, Little Cang, why wasn't it Lu Mi?"

Cang Qi opened his mouth, not knowing how to answer.

Yu Tu looked so hurt.

Ming Qiuxue said, "Lu Mi isn't on Calamity Planet. 0456, under orders from my superiors, I need to take you back to Second Prison for an emergency interrogation. Behave yourself. Let's go."

A prison officer from Second Prison raised his hand and tugged at Yu Tu's shackles. "Keep up!"

Yu Tu stumbled, his white hair swaying gently as his gaze fell on the bean sprouts painted on the wall.

He had only drawn six bean sprouts.

Yu Tu let out a breath of relief and suddenly became happy.

"I get it. It's not time yet!"

Yu Tu stepped forward to follow them, then after walking a few steps, turned back and said to Cang Qi,

"Little Cang, when Lu Mi comes back, remember to tell him I've changed places. Tell him to come pick me up. I'll wait for him."

Cang Qi gritted his teeth, took off his cotton-padded coat, and wrapped it around Yu Tu.

"Don't worry, Commander Yu Tu. Warden Lu definitely won't go back on his word."

Wearing Cang Qi's cotton-padded coat, Yu Tu was escorted out of Ghoststone Forest by the prison officers from Second Prison.

Outside Ghoststone Forest, wind and snow raged. When he stepped down, he found the snow was as deep as Cang Qi had said—nearly reaching his calves.

Yu Tu shuddered violently and kept moving forward.

Behind him, Cang Qi watched Yu Tu's receding figure while Black Shadow stood beside him, looking somewhat irritated. Cang Qi quickly took out his communicator and sent Lu Mi a message.

Cang Qi: Warden Lu, your husband was taken away by Warden Ming!

Cang Qi: Warden Lu, what should we do?

Cang Qi: Warden Lu, will he really be alright?

Cang Qi: Warden Lu, reply when you receive this!

Cang Qi sent more than ten messages in one breath.

When he came back to his senses, his gaze froze.

Behind every message was the same notice—

'Your message failed to send.'

Cang Qi's fingertips trembled.

"Black Shadow, where the hell did your master go?"

Ship 01 made an emergency landing based on the coordinates of Ship 03's black box wreckage.

This abandoned planet was shrouded in heavy fog year-round. The fog blocked out the sunlight, leaving the planet dim even during the day, as though dusk had fallen.

It was piled high with garbage transported from nearby planets.

The flames from Ship 01's landing burned through two piles of trash. When Lu Mi opened the hatch and stepped out, he was immediately hit by the stench of rot and scorched debris.

His expression did not change. As the hatch closed behind him, he walked forward as if on level ground. Finally, he stopped, bent down, and reached into the trash at his feet to retrieve a piece of Ship 03's black box wreckage.

Lu Mi tightened his fingers. The hard wreckage instantly twisted between his fingertips, then was kneaded between both hands into a small ball of rare metal.

He lowered his eyes and toyed with the ball in his hand, sneering. "What's this? I'm already here, so why are you still hiding?"

The garbage heap beneath him suddenly shook violently. Lu Mi stood where he was without giving an inch. Soon, a spaceship resembling a mushroom cap emerged from within it.

Lu Mi was standing on the ship's transparent canopy. Looking down, he met a pair of feminine eyes.

An amplified voice came from the front of the ship, identical to the one decoded from the black box backup.

"Warden Lu, it really was you who tampered with Yu Tu's transfer and detention!"
