Background

Xu Yuan transmigrated bodily to Douluo Continent at age thirteen. Before awakening his Martial Soul, he survived as an orphan in Notting City by taking odd jobs, aided by the unusual marks on his hands: the Burden-bearing Titan Core Flame on his left hand and Dawnmaker on his right. His Honkai Trailblazer Panel remained stalled at 99.99% until his Martial Soul awakening approached 1.

At the Notting City Spirit Hall branch, Xu Yuan awakened Dawnmaker and tested at Innate Level Seven Soul Power. Yu Xiaogang lost interest when Xu Yuan did not meet his expectation of Innate Full Soul Power, while Ma Xiunuo recognized Dawnmaker’s potential and invited Xu Yuan to join Spirit Hall. Xu Yuan declined to commit to any faction before becoming a One-Ring Soul Master, but resolved to repay Ma Xiunuo for his kindness and sixteen silver soul coins 2.

After returning home, Xu Yuan used a Contract Summoning Card and formed an Equal Contract with Jingliu. Her protection allowed him to pursue high-level Soul Rings, immortal herbs, and opportunities that would otherwise be inaccessible 2 3.

He is grateful toward people who sincerely help him, notably Ma Xiunuo and Dugu Bo, and repeatedly repays support with resources, promotion, protection, or cultivation guidance 2 75. Conversely, he is vindictive toward those he believes have exploited or threatened him.
