Background

Acheron’s true name is Mei. Her memories are rooted in Izumo and Takamagahara, where she witnessed a catastrophic war against the eight million calamity gods, many of whom had been corrupted into oni by Nihility. In the aftermath, she fused the Edict Blades of Origin and End into Naught, a blade inseparable from her grief, vengeance, and memories of the dead 58.

Xu Yuan summons her through a Contract Summoning Card in the Great Star Dou Forest. She arrives confused and displaced, carrying a blood-red umbrella and Naught; the contract immediately identifies Xu Yuan as her connected partner 47. Her Self-Annihilator condition rapidly destabilizes, nearly resulting in a continent-destroying sword strike before Xu Yuan purifies her with Sun and Moon Illuminated by Treasured Light 48.

Later, Xu Yuan enters Mei’s Emotional Space through Clockie’s power. Within a recreation of Izumo’s ruined battlefield, he confronts the memory projection sustaining her despair and rewrites the scene into one where hope overcomes Nihility. Mei emerges emotionally warmer, asks Xu Yuan to call her by her true name, and becomes his lover 58 59 60.

After confronting her trauma, Mei becomes more emotionally open and affectionate toward Xu Yuan. Her warmth is paired with a direct, possessive streak: she openly reserves time with him, intervenes when Black Swan grows too close, and treats invasions of her memories as serious challenges 59 86 128 129.

Despite her overwhelming strength, she can exercise restraint when persuaded. She withdraws most of her power after Gu Yuena begs for Xiong Jun’s life, allowing conflict with the Ferocious Beasts to become a negotiation rather than a massacre 52.
