Su Ziyu sat atop another building. With the All-Seeing True Eye's extraordinary vision, he could see everything in the abandoned factory below with perfect clarity.
Including that bizarre cult that seemed impossible to kill.
He had no intention of acting yet. It was time to temper the Rage Knight's combat strength. This Netherworld army would accompany him in conquering the world someday; how could they falter at the slightest difficulty?
However, he had indeed noticed something unusual.
Inside the qipao-clad woman's brain nerves was a seven-segment ring-shaped worm, pitch-black and wriggling about. The membrane covering the Astral Spirit Body had vanished without a trace, while the seven-segment worm was continuing to consume and occupy the central region of her brain nerves.
This was not the first time Su Ziyu had seen a seven-segment worm.
He recalled the man in the Black Bear mask he had encountered at the night market. He had also had a seven-segment worm living in his brain.
Thinking carefully, the qipao woman and the Black Bear man did share quite a few similarities.
For instance, neither of them feared death!
Despite being human, they possessed an immortality similar to that of an Evil Spirit Marionette!
And to kill these people, one had to kill that Seven-Segment Ringworm.
Su Ziyu narrowed his eyes slightly, then transmitted his thoughts to the Rage Knight.
Around the factory, supporting pillars and chunks of broken wall flew everywhere. Black flames were like graffiti paint, scorching everything black with crackling sounds, while blood formed another kind of paint, creating a bizarre abstract painting.
Half of the qipao woman's head was covered in black flames, brain matter spilling out, while a massive hole had been pierced through her chest.
Yet she remained full of vigor, smiling as she said:
"We are God's apostles. We guide wandering travelers. We have come to welcome you!
Come, join us.
We are the only light after darkness fades. We are the beginning of the first ray of light.
Darkness will eventually recede, and dawn will shine upon the earth!"
The woman's voice rose and fell, hoarse and grating, as though it possessed some kind of magic that pierced the human soul.
But the Rage Knight and the Evil Spirit warriors were blessed by the Netherworld Heavenly Dao. Having nothing left but a thirst for slaughter, they were unaffected by this sort of mental assault.
"Kill!"
Rage raised his greatsword high. The Evil Spirit warriors behind him answered the call, transforming once again into frenzied soldiers as they wildly swung their swords. Netherworld Ghostfire turned the place into a living hell.
"Neigh!"
The Netherworld Warhorse let out a cry, raising its head as its tail swayed in the wind. Flecks of black fire fell to the ground, staining the floor black,
It charged forward. The Rage Knight's eyes lit up faintly atop its back, and the Yellow Springs Greatsword suddenly extended several meters, becoming like a Tang saber as it slashed down hard, piercing the qipao woman's head.
The fleshy buds extending from beneath her head wriggled like the roots of an old tree. The Yellow Springs Greatsword manifested an icy aura, and yellow-green Netherworld energy froze even the floor. The dancing flames seemed as though someone had pressed pause.
Then the Netherworld Warhorse abruptly raised its front hooves. Rage gripped the hilt of the Yellow Springs Greatsword and twisted it viciously. As an evolved version of an Evil Spirit Marionette, his attacks could also inflict damage upon spirit bodies.
"Aah!"
The qipao woman's pupils widened. As she wailed, her crown seemed to bulge, and with a pop, a pitch-black Seven-Segment Ringworm sprang out and fell to the ground, immediately frozen by the Yellow Springs aura.
Chunks of flesh peeled up from her head, like cracks spreading across the surface of an exquisite doll, or repeatedly creased paper—rough and shattered—as they turned to black ash and dispersed.
Even before she died, the qipao woman's lips continued to move, but no sound came out.
Her subordinates suffered the same fate.
The Evil Spirit warriors followed suit, chopping off heads and killing the black Seven-Segment Ringworms. The cultists' immortality was severed as well.
Ruan Xiaoqi watched the scene with great interest, eager to give it a try, but without Su Ziyu's orders, she did not dare act rashly.
"Mm, not bad."
Su Ziyu tossed away his cigarette butt and crushed it underfoot. Looking toward the other side of the rooftop, he muttered:
"You came all this way and still want to run?"
Darkness enveloped him, and his figure vanished inch by inch.
"Dark Wisdom: Void Teleportation!"
In an empty alley outside the abandoned factory, a hooded figure wore a robe bearing the same black fiery-cloud pattern. Half his face was exposed, deathly pale like that of a corpse.
His body trembled slightly at first, then violently. The shaking grew increasingly intense until even his teeth were chattering.
"How is this possible... How could the Necromancer Society possess such strength?
How did they see through my alchemy? Could that necromancer be nearby?
Damn it, what exactly is going on? Why would the Necromancer Society interfere in something like this?
We were clearly the first to set our sights on River City. Damn it, if I fail this mission, the High Priest will kill me!"
He lowered his head and muttered to himself, his face pale. He did not notice the man in a yellow robe standing leisurely behind him, wearing a pale mask.
"Damn it! No! I can't lose! My alchemy is invincible! Even if you're a necromancer, don't get cocky. Just watch how I deal with you, hehehe!"
After letting out several sinister laughs, the priest seemed to realize something. His brow furrowed slightly as he stiffly turned around, his pupils suddenly widening.
Time seemed to freeze at that moment.
He saw a figure standing one meter behind him, where the moonlight could not reach.
He could vaguely make out a yellow robe gently fluttering in the night breeze, as well as a pale, bloodless, soft mask. He did not know whether his eyes were playing tricks on him, but it seemed that... the pale mask on that person's face... had smiled!
"King in Yellow... Aah!"
The priest's throat went dry, and his mouth hung slightly open as though he were muttering to himself.
