Background / History

Ruan Xiaoqi was an ordinary—or possibly unusually constituted—girl before an old witch subjected her to spider-related black-magic rituals. She was bound to a stake and covered in strange spiders, while the witch sought the attention of the Spider God Atlach-Nacha. Xiaoqi consequently gained Spider-Type abilities, but the Spider God’s gift also contaminated her spirit and left a curse or seal within her body. 10

She was later confined in Jiangyuan Psychiatric Hospital’s Special Containment Facility as an S-rank patient. Su Ziyu had known her when she first arrived at the hospital and spoke with her during group activities; at that time, she had not yet become completely unstable. Her condition progressively worsened until more than half of her Mental Body had blackened from contamination. 9

When Su Ziyu encountered her in the facility, he restrained her and surgically removed the contamination using Spirit Scissors and Touch of Hell. He also destroyed the lingering curse after investigating her past through the All-Seeing True Eye. However, he used the Dread Demon Eye’s Mental Hypnosis and residual curse energy to implant the belief that he was her master and that she must remain loyal to him. 10

Appearance

Xiaoqi is a sixteen-year-old girl with an innocent, youthful appearance that contrasts sharply with her predatory movements and violence. She originally wore a dust-stained white dress and kept long black hair over one eye; after Su Ziyu arranged a haircut, her bright eyes and soft cheeks became more visible. 9 38

Personality

Before her contamination was cured, Xiaoqi was obsessive, violent, and childlike, repeatedly calling Su Ziyu her “toy” and demanding that he return it. Even then, her madness did not erase her instinctive interest in him. 9 10

After treatment, she remained naturally cold, detached, and bloodthirsty rather than becoming gentle. Su Ziyu considers this predatory nature valuable and deliberately does not try to make her harmless. Despite being known as “Daimei” because others assumed she was slow-witted, she is not unintelligent; she simply refuses to engage with things that do not interest her. 10

She is strongly attached to Su Ziyu, follows his instructions readily, and responds visibly to his praise. Her moral awareness improves after purification: she obeys his order not to kill Special Affairs Department soldiers and appears unwilling to slaughter people serving humanity. 11 12 16
