Huo Hai had to admit that the books he had bought at the Black Market, devoted to all kinds of insects and Spirit Beasts, were remarkably comprehensive. Their authors had recorded everything, useful or not.
Huo Hai had seen the White-Pattern Crystal Serpent in one of those books. It was an exceedingly rare Spirit Beast, so rare that it was unclear whether the author had ever seen one. The entry was brief, but even from those few lines, Huo Hai could tell how terrifying it was. A snake would make a fine choice for Gu Refinement.
Unfortunately, using the Insect Refining Formation to control a Spirit Beast was nowhere near as easy as controlling an ordinary insect. Even if Huo Hai deepened his understanding of the formation, he would only be able to control Spirit Beasts weaker than himself.
The book's record of the White-Pattern Crystal Serpent was simple: it was fast. The book never said just how fast. It only said that virtually no Spirit Beast of the same level could match its speed.
The book said nothing about whether the White-Pattern Crystal Serpent was venomous. It was too far away, and the Star Gu had died too quickly for Huo Hai to sense anything. One thing was certain: its teeth were extraordinarily sharp. It had bitten a Star Gu to pieces and swallowed it in an instant. That was going to be a serious problem.
This White-Pattern Crystal Serpent was far stronger than Huo Hai had imagined. It was not at the Early Spirit Practitioner Stage, or even the middle or late stage. It was at the Spirit General Realm—the Early Spirit General Stage. Power like that was beyond anything Huo Hai could imagine.
"No wonder the other lineages learned about this place but didn't dare send anyone."
