Background / History

Shi Hongyu began as Class Three’s teacher at Flying Cloud Vine School. After the class survived its trial competition, she personally called Fu Junlin aside and soon learned that he had detected the Secondary Energy lesions in her stomach. She made him promise not to reveal her condition. 4 5

As a Level-Two Master Fistmaster, she formed and commanded a six-person Subspecies squad for the Death-Cycle Arena expedition. She supplied every member with four Energy Crystal Blocks, carried monitoring equipment herself, and led the team’s combat preparation. 19

Her Secondary Energy Infection progressively shortened her expected lifespan. Determined to become stronger while she still could, she exhausted her savings and sold her car to advance to Level-Three Elite. 106

During the Wilderness Arena crisis, Shi stayed behind to hold off Deformed Species so the other teachers could escape. Exhausted and infected, she was rescued by Fu Junlin, who fought through the horde and shielded her with his own body. 110

After the Black-Eyed Energy Core entered her body, the Federation subjected her to illegal and potentially fatal experimentation. Liu Zhiyin massacred the personnel conducting the tests and fled with the experimental drug, ending the immediate danger to her. Her research was subsequently transferred to military supervision. 157 158

Shi later used the Black-Eyed Energy Core to save Flying Cloud City. After destroying an empowered Composite Deformed Species, she split an Energy Core apart beneath the descending black sphere and drew the catastrophic energy into it, while the city’s defenders held back the resulting beast tide. 243

Her parents, Jin Liuying and Shi Qianyue, were garrison soldiers killed during the Glacier Chain Battle at the Iron Hand Front. Shi visits their shared grave in the Blazing Sun Cemetery District, where Grandpa Wang guards the graves of his fallen comrades and their families. 276

Shi Hongyu is a graceful but imposing woman whose athletic build and long hair contrast with the direct, violent style of her close-quarters combat. In everyday settings, she favors fitted casual clothing; in battle, she equips a compact red fist gauntlet. 19 197

Shi is forthright, commanding, and deeply protective of her students and companions. She takes responsibility in crises, from distributing scarce energy supplies to ordering teammates to retreat while she holds back an advancing boulder with a broken arm. 19 25

She is also fiercely proud of Fu Junlin’s accomplishments. When his inventions and combat actions prove decisive, she openly revels in the success of “her student,” especially when other teachers had underestimated him. 98

Beneath her confidence, Shi carries grief over her parents’ deaths and anxiety over her illness. She nevertheless refuses to accept despair: when Liu Zhiyin argues that genetically engineered humans have no meaningful identity, she answers that worth comes from what a person accomplishes, not how they were created. 276 381
