Background / History

Ba Dawang was imprisoned and experimented upon at Little Monkey Mountain alongside Ba Xiaomei, Xie Ba, the Executioners, and other children. The facility’s test subjects lived under constant terror, with some selected for more severe experimentation and controlled through red threads around their necks 371 421.

He and Ba Xiaomei escaped together at night, ran into an Arena Zone, and survived by killing its monsters. Afterward, he urged her to become his little sister, changed their names, and promised to protect her 371. The pair later fought alongside hunting teams from childhood, killed more than a dozen bosses, and earned their tuition through combat 181.

Ba Dawang and Ba Xiaomei eventually returned to Little Monkey Mountain to rescue their former companions. After Ge Yuan severed the Executioners’ control threads, Ba Dawang forgave them and helped free more than thirty imprisoned test subjects 421. Although he offered the survivors positions under Fu Junlin, they chose independent lives rather than serve another authority 421.

Ba Dawang is a thin, black-haired, hunchbacked boy whose large back pack or hump contains the crimson energy associated with his berserk state. He normally fights with oversized fist armors or gauntlets 184 186 505.

His deepest sensitivity is his identity. Being called “Little Turtle” provokes rage powerful enough to break psychological suppression and activate his berserk state; he repeatedly insists that his name is Ba Dawang 185 370. He can also be recklessly impulsive, most notably when he kills Supreme Marshal Wei Jiandong in anger, then attempts to redeem himself through dangerous solo action 467 471.

Fu Junlin recruits Ba Dawang and Ba Xiaomei for the Black Cloud Realm’s second echelon after discovering their extreme gravity training and childhood hunting experience 181. In the Realm, Ba Dawang identifies the Elite Monsters’ anatomical weaknesses, leads the close-range assault with paired fist armors, and proves capable of fighting a Level-Four Mutated Elite Monster head-on 184 186.

When the squad is trapped by mutated elites, Ba Xiaomei calls him “Little Turtle,” awakening the crimson power in his back. He destroys one monster with overwhelming force and declares his true name 185.

Martial Forest Trials

In the Martial Forest’s Ghostwood arena, Ba Dawang challenges the Ghostwood General to send ten opponents, only to receive eleven Strange Wood Soldiers 309. He uses high-level group-combat tactics to survive their coordinated attacks, then enters Berserk after Ba Xiaomei activates “Little Turtle,” destroying all eleven and earning eleven Memory Fruits 309.

Return to Little Monkey Mountain

The siblings’ confrontation with Xie Ba forces Ba Dawang to face the fear left by their childhood imprisonment. Xie Ba initially crushes his gauntlet and psychologically overwhelms him, but the “Little Turtle” insult causes Ba Dawang to fight through the fear and meet Xie Ba’s red energy with his own 369 370.

Afterward, Ba Dawang helps free the Executioners and imprisoned test subjects. He insists on being called Ba Dawang rather than by his old name, reflecting his rejection of the identity imposed on him at Little Monkey Mountain 421.

Beast Tide and the Red Sun War

Ba Dawang and Ba Xiaomei reinforce Su Ming’s collapsing force during the beast tide, using their combined strength to draw monsters away from the main defensive formation 441. When the reunited Little Monkey Mountain survivors arrive, Ba Dawang realizes that his true home is the people who endured their past together 442.

During the battle against Yamata no Orochi, he enters Berserk and uses one of the monster’s broken fangs to tear open its body after Ba Xiaomei forces the fang loose from inside its mouth 467. Soon afterward, he kills Supreme Marshal Wei Jiandong in anger after Wei refuses to accept responsibility for sacrificing thousands of soldiers 467 468.

Red Sun Federation Infiltration

Seeking merit to atone for Wei Jiandong’s death and protect Fu Junlin from political consequences, Ba Dawang destroys his radio and infiltrates the Red Sun Federation alone 471 472. He discovers the Life-Slaying Stone, which draws in the souls of fallen soldiers and may explain the enemy’s growing military strength 475.

Exposed by the Ghost Market’s inhabitants, he escapes through the Light Gate blockade, sacrifices his right forearm to reach the Jump Bricks, and crosses the Electromagnetic Interference Clouds with a Spherical Form explosion 476 477. Fu Junlin, Ba Xiaomei, Cheng Xiaoyu, and the Little Monkey Mountain survivors rescue him before he dies from his injuries and poisoning 478.

His intelligence becomes central to the tribunal case over Wei Jiandong’s murder. Fu Junlin and Luo Fengshan argue that discovering the Life-Slaying Stone saved the Federation’s defensive line and outweighs the simplistic judgment that Ba Dawang is only a criminal 488 489.

Battle Against the Controller

Ba Dawang returns during the retreat against the Controller, carrying two Phase-Change Energy Blocks through an energy barrier and helping lower the walls that would have trapped the rearguard 505. The feat leaves him exhausted and leads the Controller to capture him while searching for Fu Junlin 506.

When the Controller demands Fu Junlin’s surrender, Ba Dawang refuses to let his brother become “a sinner.” Calling Fu Junlin humanity’s “lighthouse,” he detonates his own red energy in an attempt to save him and obstruct the Controller 507.
