"No, I'm not!"
"I bought the shares Stark transferred because I believed Stark Industries still had enormous potential for growth."
"As for why Stark transferred the shares to me instead of someone else, that's a question you should ask him, not me."
"Besides, I have a question for you now."
Roy looked calmly at Christine and spoke slowly.
"What do you want to ask?"
Christine responded.
"Very simple. I want to know why you suspected that I was Stark's secret bodyguard."
"If your reasoning is that both his secret bodyguard and I have black hair, and that I joined Stark Industries' board of directors, then I think you'd be better off going back to Vanity Fair as a reporter."
"Your current identity is that of a female anchor for Los Angeles Fox 11."
"In other words, every word and action of yours represents the professional standards of a Fox News Channel anchor."
"If you rashly suspect me of being Stark's secret bodyguard without any substantial evidence, that can only mean you're unsuited to your current job."
Roy picked up the pre-meal white wine in front of him and took a sip, speaking unhurriedly.
Christine fell silent, her brows knitting together.
Seeing her frown without saying a word, Roy knew he had guessed correctly.
After more than ten seconds, Christine said, "Whether I'm suited to this job will be evaluated by my superiors."
Roy nodded and continued, "That's right. Judging whether you're suited to your current job is indeed your superiors' responsibility. It's not my call."
"However, a rookie female anchor making an unfounded accusation against a Stark Industries director without evidence, causing significant damage to that person's reputation and Stark Industries' market value..."
"Though I'm not in the news industry, if I'm not mistaken, that should count as defamation."
"Let me ask you another question. If I have Stark Industries' legal department send a lawyer's letter to this rookie anchor, do you think Los Angeles Fox 11—or rather, Fox News Channel—would choose to fire her, or spend a great deal of manpower and resources fighting a lawsuit they have little chance of winning?"
Christine fell silent again. Her expression darkened as she slowly asked, "Are you threatening me?"
Threatening her?
Roy smiled and shook his head, then continued, "Which university did you graduate from? If I'm not mistaken, your university should be part of the Ivy League."
"Brown University."
Although she had no idea what Roy was up to, Christine still named her alma mater.
"Brown University has one of the lowest acceptance rates in the country. Being able to get in through your own abilities, you must be proud of yourself, right?"
Roy said slowly.
"What exactly are you trying to say?"
Christine looked at Roy in confusion, her brow furrowing even deeper.
"As an anchor, you should be more patient when facing an interviewee. That's a basic professional quality."
Roy reminded Christine.
"All right, I was being too impatient. Take your time."
Christine took a deep breath and suppressed the dissatisfaction in her heart.
"When you were at Brown University, you must have met plenty of classmates whose grades were far worse than yours, but who received acceptance letters because of their families."
"The fact that you got into Brown University proves you aren't stupid. You must know why that was."
"Now, to answer your earlier question, I'm not threatening you. I merely need to follow the rules by which society operates to make you lose your current job, or even leave the news industry entirely."
"All right, I've said everything I needed to say. If you haven't had lunch either, why not join me? My treat."
Christine said nothing and stared at Roy.
Soon, she made her decision. She picked up the recorder on the table, switched it off, and put it back into her handbag.
Then she gave Roy a slight smile and said, "It would be my honor to have lunch with Mr. Roy."
"It would also be my honor to dine with Fox News Channel's future star anchor."
Roy said with a smile.
Hearing his words, Christine's smile became even more captivating.
After they had eaten and drunk their fill.
They left the restaurant together.
Roy had originally planned to find Tony after lunch.
But as the saying went, plans could never keep up with changes.
Before heading to Tony's seaside mansion, he planned to accept Christine's in-depth interview and deepen their mutual understanding and trust.
Two hours later.
Roy used Flying Thunder God to arrive at Tony's garage and workshop.
Before coming, he had deliberately sent Tony a text message so Tony would not complain that he appeared out of nowhere like a ghost.
"You just got out of the shower?"
Tony looked Roy over and asked.
"Yes."
Roy nodded.
It would have been somewhat impolite to meet Tony while drenched in sweat.
Besides, taking a hot shower after strenuous exercise helped relax both body and mind.
"Something's off!"
Tony continued.
"What's off?"
Roy asked.
"You're not the kind of person who'd deliberately take a shower just to see me."
"What were you doing before you came here?"
Tony quickly asked.
"Nothing. I just got some exercise."
Roy replied casually.
Though they were already acquainted, he had no intention of telling Tony the truth.
Just as Tony was about to ask more questions, Roy continued, "How's the research on the Physical Enhancement Drug and the Spider Serum coming along?"
Hearing his question, Tony replied with a proud expression, "With me personally handling it, of course there won't be any problems."
"It's not that I'm looking down on Oscorp's researchers, but they really aren't much."
"If we're only looking at the enhancement effects, the Physical Enhancement Drug they developed is fairly decent."
"But the drug's stability is far too poor."
"To put it bluntly, the Physical Enhancement Drug they developed hasn't reached the standard it should have. It's only a half-finished product."
"Not only did I eliminate the potential side effects of using the drug, I also improved its enhancement effect to a certain extent."
"According to JARVIS's analysis, the enhancement effect has increased by about 50 percent."
After listening to Tony, Roy nodded in satisfaction and continued, "What about the Spider Serum?"
Uh...
Tony's expression immediately changed.
"Don't tell me even you couldn't figure it out."
Roy frowned.
"Who said I couldn't figure it out!"
"I just haven't started researching it yet."
Tony responded.
He hadn't started yet?
Roy sighed helplessly.
"Although I haven't begun researching the Spider Serum yet, I can guarantee that I'll have it ready in three months at most."
Tony said quickly.
"Three months?"
"What are you busy with now?"
Roy asked.
"Mark VI!"
"Following the suggestions you gave me before, I developed Mark VI!"
Tony looked at Roy with a proud expression.
