Hiruzen Sarutobi resumed the Hokage post and ordered Konoha to join the Five-Nation Allied Forces in attacking the Land of U and U Hidden Village. Shimura Danzō took command of Konoha’s army, which set out for the Land of U as anti-Uchiha hatred spread through the village.

• Uchiha Shanhuo told Shimura Danzō that Hiruzen Sarutobi had become Hokage again and that the Five Great Nations planned to attack Amegakure.
• Mitokado Homura announced Hiruzen Sarutobi’s return as Hokage and the allied subjugation order against the Land of U and U Hidden Village.
• Mitokado Homura appointed Shimura Danzō overall commander, and Danzō vowed to destroy U Hidden Village and exterminate the Uchiha.
• Danzō broadcast that the Uchiha were responsible for the war, and Konoha villagers turned their anger toward them.
• Konoha assembled eight thousand ninja, and Danzō led them out toward the Land of U.

Kakuzu arrived at U Hidden Village and saw its egalitarian life, while Uchiha Chuan warned Yahiko and the others that founding the Land of U would require a war. Black Zetsu confirmed that the Five Great Nations had finished preparing to attack, leaving Hiruzen and Utatane Koharu resolved to act for Konoha.

• Minato welcomed Kakuzu and explained the Land of U’s Infection Technique and its principle that everyone was an Uchiha, with different duties but no distinction in status.
• Kakuzu encountered children playing in the village and reflected on how its welcoming atmosphere contrasted with the betrayal he had suffered in his own village.
• Uchiha Chuan told Yahiko, Nagato, and the others that their nation’s founding would require a war, while Yahiko worried about civilian casualties.
• Black Zetsu informed the daimyo and the Five Kage that Kirigakure and Kumogakure had completed their preparations and that forces from Konoha, Sunagakure, and Iwagakure were rushing toward the Land of U.
• Utatane Koharu questioned Hiruzen about his intentions, and he said everything was for Konoha, prompting her to reaffirm her resolve.

The Land of U and U Hidden Village celebrated their founding as the Five Great Nations’ leaders secretly prepared to destroy them. Uchiha Chuan proclaimed the Vanguard Corps’ mission to break free of the Shinobi World and reach the stars and seas, and Yahiko formally declared the new nation and village established.

• The Five Great Nations’ daimyos and Five Kage learned that their forces had assembled and resolved to attack the Land of U, dismissing its citizens as expendable.
• The daimyos and Five Kage arrived at U Hidden Village’s crowded ceremony, where the people’s Sharingan unsettled them.
• Tsunade declined to join the ceremony onstage, while Yahiko and Minato welcomed the visiting leaders.
• Uchiha Chuan told the crowd that the Land of U sought peace and that U Hidden Village would serve as its Vanguard Corps, pursuing the stars and seas beyond the Shinobi World.
• Uchiha Chuan urged the people to become a nation of the Vanguard Corps, and they answered that they were all its members.
• Yahiko declared the Land of U and U Hidden Village established, prompting the crowd to cheer.

The Land of Fire Daimyo announced Yuan Qing as the new Daimyo of the Land of U, but the crowd rejected his demand that they kneel, embracing the name Uchiha instead. Black Zetsu triggered a joint invasion, and the Land of U was plunged into war.

• The Land of Fire Daimyo introduced Yuan Qing as the new Daimyo of the Land of U, and Yuan Qing demanded that everyone kneel before him.
• Uchiha Chuan and the crowd defied Yuan Qing and the Land of Fire Daimyo, declaring that they would not submit and that everyone was Uchiha.
• Black Zetsu possessed the Daimyo of the Land of Lightning, declared war on the Land of U, and fired a signal flare to begin the joint crusade.
• The Five Kage attacked U Hidden Village as Kumogakure and Kirigakure shinobi charged from the north and south.

U Hidden Village’s celebration turned into a war as the Five Great Villages invaded, and U Hidden Village’s leaders split their forces to meet the attacks. The Third Hokage prepared a hidden trump card while Danzo redirected Konoha’s forces toward U Hidden Village.

• The Kage and their allies clashed across the battlefield as Tsunade, Uchiha Tongyue, Fugaku Uchiha, Hizashi Hyuga, and Kakuzu led U Hidden Village’s forces against the invading villages.
• Minato confronted the Third Hokage and realized that the person posing as Jiraiya was not Jiraiya; the Third Hokage offered him the position of Fifth Hokage, but Minato refused.
• Kushina fought Utatane Koharu, while Tsunade led U Hidden Village’s troops against Kumogakure and struck down the Eight-Tails Jinchuriki.
• Danzo’s Konoha forces attacked the Land of U, then turned toward U Hidden Village after Uchiha Shanhuo reported that its defenders had gathered there.
• The Third Hokage opened a scroll and apologized to Orochimaru, saying Orochimaru was still more suitable.

The Third sacrificed Orochimaru to summon Madara Uchiha and joined him in a plan to destroy U Hidden Village. Madara broke free of the Third’s control, threatened the village with a meteor, then attacked Nagato to reclaim his Rinnegan before Uchiha Chuan intervened.

• The Third used Orochimaru as the sacrifice for Impure World Reincarnation and summoned Madara Uchiha.
• Madara learned that the Third had summoned him under an agreement to destroy U Hidden Village, then challenged Uchiha Chuan and unleashed a meteor.
• Uchiha Chuan shrank the meteor to the size of a thumb, saving U Hidden Village and those gathered there.
• Madara told the Third he would honor their cooperation, then confronted Nagato and began absorbing his chakra to reclaim his Rinnegan.
• Uchiha Chuan grabbed Madara's hand to stop him, and Madara began absorbing Uchiha Chuan's chakra.

Uchiha Chuan showed Madara Uchiha his vision for peace, and Madara broke free of Hiruzen Sarutobi’s control to consider it. Hiruzen summoned Hashirama by sacrificing Jiraiya, leaving the two old rivals to debate Madara’s new proposal.

• Uchiha Chuan resisted Madara Uchiha’s chakra absorption and offered him a Memory Ball describing the U Hidden Village’s path to peace.
• Madara Uchiha released himself from the Impure World Reincarnation’s control and viewed the Memory Ball while the other Kage fought Uchiha Chuan’s allies.
• Madara Uchiha learned about the People’s Vanguard, shared labor, expansion into space, and a voluntary Infinite Tsukuyomi, then murmured about the ideas.
• Hiruzen Sarutobi released Jiraiya and used Impure World Reincarnation to summon Hashirama, while Minato tried to rescue Jiraiya.
• Hashirama asked Madara Uchiha about his plan for peace, and Madara proposed making everyone Uchiha; Hashirama rejected the idea as impossible.

Uchiha Chuan showed Hashirama the Infection Technique and his memories of U Hidden Village, winning his support as the battle against the Five Great Nations ended. Afterward, Chuan returned to fishing with Madara Uchiha and Hashirama while Black Zetsu hid again.

• Uchiha Chuan gave Hashirama the Infection Technique and a Memory Ball, which revealed U Hidden Village's plans and the clans that had joined it.
• Hashirama condemned the Third Hokage's treatment of the Uchiha, then praised Uchiha Chuan's vision of peace and agreed to leave the living to handle their affairs.
