As rival villages and Danzo’s Root moved against them, Chuan’s forces began defending Amegakure while Hiruzen launched a secret plan of his own.

• Madara Uchiha told Uchiha Shanhuo and eight other Uchiha about his Infinite Tsukuyomi plan, and they volunteered to inherit his will.
• Danzo’s forces attacked the Uchiha camp, and Fugaku led the Uchiha in a battle that ended with heavy losses and their destruction, and Hiruzen later chose Jiraiya as Fourth Hokage.
• Jiraiya called a Five Kage Summit and revealed that Nagato possessed the Rinnegan, while Madara attacked the gathering and fought the Kage before escaping.
• Nagato, Yahiko, and Konan led Akatsuki to take control of Amegakure, and Hanzo joined them after Nagato revealed his Rinnegan.

The Five Great Nations moved to destroy the village, while Black Zetsu manipulated Konoha and Orochimaru pursued the secrets of its techniques.

• Hanzo defeated the Third Kazekage, while the Third Hokage created Impure Reincarnation Jinchuriki and sent them after the Seven Ninja Swordsmen.
• Uchiha Chuan used rain, formations, and Earth Release to repel the Iwagakure and Kumogakure invasions, and Hanzo forced the Third Raikage to retreat.
