Ning Rongrong arrived at Shrek Academy as one of the applicants selected for Zhao Wuji's fourth test. She identified herself as a support-type Soul Grandmaster with the Seven Treasures Glazed Tile Pagoda and immediately joined Tang San's proposed team formation. During the test, she enhanced Zhu Zhuqing and Fang Fan with strength and speed support, then witnessed Fang Fan overwhelm Zhao Wuji with a single sword strike. 8 9

Although she passed Shrek's admissions process, Rongrong left with Fang Fan and Zhu Zhuqing after Shrek's conflict with them. Her curiosity toward Fang Fan developed into fascination as she watched his drunken manner contrast with his swordsmanship, cultivation, and apparent ability to improve those near him. 16 23

While traveling to Heaven Dou City, she paid Zhu Zhuqing 10,000 Gold Soul Coins for one chance to feed Fang Fan wine. The act gave Fang Fan a system reward and let Rongrong discover that physical contact with him improved the circulation of her Soul Power. At the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well, Rongrong watched Zhu Zhuqing and Fang Fan gain exceptional benefits from their shared cultivation.
