Background

Ichigo was born to Isshin Kurosaki—formerly Isshin Shiba, captain of the Tenth Division—and Masaki, a Quincy. His mixed lineage gave him spiritual power unlike that of ordinary people from birth. Masaki later died protecting the young Ichigo from a Hollow, an event that shaped his protective instincts. 90 243
