Werther's face darkened when he saw the thick roll in the Mysterious Merchant's hands.
How long would it take to price everything with a list that long? But just as Werther was about to speak, something surprising happened.
The Mysterious Merchant scanned the list at an inhuman speed, calculating the value of Werther's items as he went.
He didn't need the list for most of them. He only glanced at it when he came across something rare.
Before long, the Mysterious Merchant had finished valuing everything Werther had offered.
"All done, Mr. Werther. Your items are worth exactly forty Mysterious Coins. Please take your time browsing our wares."
Werther nodded. He didn't know much about the value of these things, but he knew how precious the notebook Tuski had chosen was.
It contained a Famous Doctor's life's work, yet the Mysterious Troupe wanted only three Mysterious Coins for it.
"All right. We'll take this notebook."
The Mysterious Merchant grew even more enthusiastic.
"How generous, Mr. Werther. Then we have a deal. I'll take items worth three Mysterious Coins."
The Mysterious Merchant picked several items of different sizes from the goods in front of Werther, then handed the notebook to Tuski.
Delighted, Tuski was about to return to his Laboratory to study it, but Werther stopped him.
"Tuski, no rush. See if there's anything else you like."
Tuski shook his head, indicating that nothing else had caught his eye, and turned to leave.
"Wait, sir. You're Doctor Tuski, aren't you? If so, I have one more item that might interest you."
