| Stage / Realm / Level | Chapter | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Armored rabbit physiology | 30–31 | Possesses a heat- and corrosion-resistant exoskeleton, notable strength, and enough intelligence to warn Werther away from the artificial volcano; later carries the badly injured Werther to his ship. 30 31 |
| Human-type Fur-Fur Fruit | 36 | Eats a Devil Fruit, sheds his exoskeleton, and gains pale-yellow fur he can manipulate. The transformation costs him the ability to swim and makes him vulnerable to Seastone. 36 |
| Fur-based mobility | 37 | Develops aerial Sky Path movement and a fur-ball escape form with tentacle-like strands for rapid ground travel. His fur is highly durable, though less sharp than the String-String Fruit's threads. 37 |
| Precision fur surgery | 47 | Creates thousands of nearly invisible fur strands to stitch an octopus's internal tissues and nerves, healing its wound with only a thin scar remaining; the technique severely exhausts him. 47 |
Background / History
Rabbit first encounters Werther on Black Iron Rock Island as a heavily armored creature. After Werther mistakenly attacks him, Rabbit offers him heat-resistant crystal-like bark and repeatedly warns him not to approach the artificial volcano. Werther apologizes and recognizes that the apparently monstrous creature is gentle and intelligent. 30
When Werther is nearly killed by a coordinated platypus swarm, Rabbit rescues him, brings him fruit, carries him back to the ship, and accepts the carrots Werther offers in return. The two initially communicate through gestures and crude drawings. 31
Rabbit later leads Werther to ancient iron ruins and reveals a hidden compartment containing bark and a stone tablet. His attempted gift disappoints him after Werther finds the bark unpleasant, but Werther eats it anyway to spare his feelings. 32 Rabbit insists on accompanying Werther into the island's forbidden underground facility, where they cooperate to escape a trapped shaft and reach the hidden complex. 33
Over the following two years, Werther teaches Rabbit human language and writing. As Werther prepares to leave the island, Rabbit chooses to accompany him because they are friends. To help him survive at sea, Werther gives him a Human-type Devil Fruit, transforming his exoskeleton into pale-yellow fur and granting the Fur-Fur Fruit. 36
Rabbit becomes Werther's constant traveling companion and is regarded as family rather than a pet. He later chooses the name Tuski, inspired by his desire to become strong after hearing about Admiral Sakazuki. 37 48
Appearance
Rabbit was initially a little over one meter tall and covered in a dark-red, heat-resistant exoskeleton. After consuming the Fur-Fur Fruit, he shed the shell and gained soft, glossy pale-yellow fur. 31 36
- Large front teeth, which he brushes regularly. 36
- Carries a backpack containing a pen, notebook, carrots, and collected rubies. 36
- Uses his Fur-Fur Fruit to form a ball-like escape shape covered in fur strands. 37
- Often relaxes with food, juice, medical books, or a fruit platter. 32 40 48
Personality
Rabbit is compassionate, loyal, and unusually brave. Despite Werther attacking him during their first meeting, he saves Werther from the platypuses and later refuses to be left behind when Werther explores the forbidden land. 30 31 33
He is adventurous but highly survival-minded, prioritizing escape techniques over direct combat. His gluttony is a defining trait: carrots immediately win his affection, he demands prepared meals rather than raw ingredients, and he eventually begins eating meat despite originally being a herbivore. 31 34 37
Rabbit is also vain and easily distracted by comfort. After his transformation, he becomes absorbed in admiring his new fur, frequently tries to avoid martial-arts training, and collects rubies as a hobby. 36 48 Beneath this laziness, he is intellectually driven; he develops a genuine passion for medicine and independently pursues advanced surgical applications of his power. 40 47
Abilities & Skills
Intelligence and Communication
Rabbit possesses human-like intelligence and learns rapidly through observation and experience.
- Understands simple human words after living with Werther, then learns spoken language and writing over two years. 32 36
- Communicates through notes, gestures, and drawings. 31 36
- Navigates Black Iron Rock Island's ruins and operates a hidden wall mechanism. 32
- Appears unusually capable of befriending animals, including News Coos and a vegetarian Sea King. 42
Fur-Fur Fruit
Rabbit can generate and manipulate exceptionally durable fur after consuming a Human-type Devil Fruit. 36
- Sky Path — Uses fur for aerial escape and movement. 37
- Fur Ball — Wraps himself in fur and uses tentacle-like strands for fast ground mobility. 37
- Binding durability — His fur is difficult to break without Haki or Lightning Mode, though it lacks the cutting sharpness of string-based abilities. 37
- Limitations — Cannot swim and is vulnerable to Seastone as a Devil Fruit user. 36
Medical Technique
Rabbit applies extremely fine fur strands as surgical sutures.
- Uses thousands of nearly invisible strands to reconnect internal tissue and nerves. 47
- Successfully repairs an octopus's wound, leaving only a thin scar. 47
- Requires intense concentration and leaves Rabbit physically and mentally exhausted. 47
Physical Strength
Before gaining his Devil Fruit, Rabbit's armored body was already strong enough to carry the severely injured Werther over his shoulder and run him back to the ship. 31
Equipment / Items
- Backpack containing a pen, notebook, carrots, and rubies. 36
- Medical books obtained with Werther's support. 40 42
- Fruit platters and prepared food supplies aboard Werther's ship. 48
Relationships
- Werther — Savior, closest companion, and family. Rabbit rescues Werther from Black Iron Rock Island, accompanies him into the forbidden land, and chooses to sail with him; Werther supports Rabbit's training and medical studies. 31 33 36 40 47
- News Coos — Rabbit feeds and befriends them; they later bring him newspapers. 42 48
- Ferdinand — Travels with Rabbit and Werther during the journey to the Iron Tribe's forging family. 42
