Werther paced around Jack, trying to provoke him. If Jack attacked, Werther could find an opening.

Clearly, Werther hadn't lost himself in the fight yet; he still knew how to use tactics. But judging by the excited grin on his face, he wasn't far from it.

Jack's response surprised Werther. Rather than rise to the bait, he moved with Werther, keeping his face toward him at all times.

That raised Werther's opinion of him. Jack was clearly much sharper in battle than his usual impulsive behavior suggested.

When Jack saw the smile on Werther's face, a chill ran through him for no reason he could name.

That unhinged grin felt familiar. Only one other person gave him the same feeling: his boss, Kaido of the Beasts.

Jack immediately realized Werther had to be a battle maniac, just like his boss.

While Jack was thinking, Werther vanished from in front of him again, leaving only a streak of Blue Light behind.

Jack's eyes couldn't follow that Speed, but his Observation Haki could, and his reactions were quick enough.

Boom!

Jack blocked Werther's slash again. This time, Werther had aimed for his head, but Jack defended with his jet-black trunk.

Werther felt the force coming through his hands and the powerful shock of their clash. Rather than retreat, he channeled more Lightning into Intent Blood.

Electromagnetic Saw!

Crackling Lightning collided along Intent Blood, producing a shrill sound like countless birds screeching at once.

With Electromagnetic Saw coursing through it, Intent Blood was exceptionally sharp. Werther had once used this move to cut halfway through Diamond Jozu's body. Jack, by comparison, was still flesh and blood.

Splurt!

Blood sprayed from Jack's trunk as Intent Blood sank into its thick flesh.

Jack cried
