Darkness. Endless darkness.

Pain swept through his entire body, but no matter how he begged for mercy, the devil before him remained unmoved.

Caesar shuddered, then opened his eyes in terror.

"I—I'm still alive. Sob... I'm actually still alive."

In the brightly lit laboratory, Caesar hung where Werther had left him. Once he came to, he burst into tears. Then he realized he still couldn't control his body.

That terrifying sensation continued. Caesar could feel the faint breeze from the corridor brushing against his skin. How long was this going to last?

His eyes widened in horror as a possibility occurred to him. What if he stayed like this forever?

The thought made Caesar feel as though his life was over. He couldn't conduct experiments anymore. He couldn't even move.

"Stop wailing. That madman hasn't left yet."

The sudden voice startled Caesar, but he couldn't turn his head. He had no way to see who was speaking.

"Who's there? Who's talking? Let me go, and I'll do anything you want."

Lying behind Caesar, Trafalgar Law was speechless. That madman had clearly scared Caesar out of his wits.

"It's me, Trafalgar Law. That madman hasn't left yet. Can you get free? I'm badly hurt. If you can break loose, we might both survive."

Caesar recognized Law's voice. Though he couldn't move, his excitement was unmistakable.

"Law, come save me! I've been poisoned. I can't move!"

Law's heart sank. He couldn't move either.

Just as despair began to take hold of them both, footsteps sounded in the corridor.

At the sound, Caesar began to cry silently again. He suspected he might have developed a phobia of footsteps.

The newcomers were Werther and Monet.

Werther entered the laboratory and found the two of them exactly as he had left them.
