When Werther arrived at the Wano Country battlefield, Red-Haired's men watched him warily.
After two months of fighting, they knew just how terrifying this murderous Great Swordsman was.
"The Thunder Swordsman is here! Go get the boss!"
One of Red-Haired's men blurted it out. Benn Beckman's eye twitched. He could fight Werther too, and they had crossed swords several times. Werther was a little stronger, but he could not get the better of Benn Beckman.
"I'll handle him. Shanks can't be the one to step in every time."
As Red-Haired's right-hand man, Benn Beckman usually called Shanks by name when no outsiders were around.
In front of others, though, he called him boss. Shanks was his captain, and Benn Beckman would not let anyone slight him.
"I'll do it. He's an old rival of mine."
Shanks came forward, as imposing as ever, though he looked unwell. The wound from Werther's sword thrust had apparently not fully healed.
Not everyone had access to the S.3 medicine Tuski made.
Werther and Shanks faced each other. There was hatred between them, but also a bond.
The hatred had come from the war. The bond had been forged through dozens of clashes.
Even so, it was little more than respect between opponents. Given the chance, either would still kill the other without hesitation.
"Werther, there's no point continuing this war. Wano Country has already fallen."
Shanks did not attack. Instead, he said something startling.
Werther paused. He did not understand what Shanks meant. With those samurai still resisting before him, Wano Country hardly looked like a fallen nation.
"What do you mean, Shanks? Aren't those samurai still fighting people of Wano
