On the island, Werther lay in a recliner Tuski had made with his ability, drinking out of boredom. Koala stood beside him.

The two people and the rabbit were unusually quiet. Tuski was reading a medical book, while Werther was thinking about how he had changed lately.

Werther had noticed that he was becoming more impulsive. Whatever came to mind, he did.

Take threatening to make Charlotte Cracker call him Dad. He would never have done something so stupid before. What had changed? Werther fell into thought.

After thinking it over for a long time, Werther arrived at an answer: he had no rules anymore.

Rules had once restrained him. After he came to the Pirate World, those rules vanished. He had let himself go a little, but long-standing habits were not so easy to break.

Now, after many years in the Pirate World, some of those old habits had faded. He liked fighting, and over time he had become a killer. Werther could tell he was becoming less and less like himself.

He had wondered if Intent Blood was influencing him, but he had dismissed that possibility. He had practically created the two Cursed Swords himself, so they were unlikely to turn on him.

Werther realized it was not Intent Blood changing him. It was himself. On Black Iron Rock Island, he had obtained an advanced method of training Haki and the swordsmanship insights of a former World's Greatest Swordsman. His strength had soared.

Years of effort had laid the groundwork. Once he found the right training method, Werther's strength had nearly caught up to an Admiral's. He would probably lose a fight against one now, but an Admiral could not
