Koala kept murmuring, but apart from that one sentence, none of it meant anything.
Three hours later, Koala slumped motionless in the chair, as if she were already dead.
Werther tossed the water pouch aside. He no longer needed it.
He pressed a hand to Koala's chest. Beneath the smooth, soft skin, he felt for her heartbeat.
It had stopped. Koala's body was beginning to die, but that did not mean she was dead. Brain death was true death.
After waiting a while, Werther judged that the time was right. Lightning appeared at his fingertips.
"Lightning Stimulation Method: Cardiac Resuscitation."
Lightning surged into Koala's body, and she jerked.
"Mmm..." Koala let out a meaningless murmur and woke, though her eyes were still covered.
"Is this the Underworld? It's so dark..."
Werther pulled off her blindfold.
"You want to die? It won't be that easy. Now answer my questions."
When Koala saw Werther before her, she felt strangely aggrieved. She had felt death approaching: endless darkness and loneliness. She never wanted to feel that again.
"Waaah!"
Koala burst into tears. Her spirit was terribly fragile now.
After truly experiencing the approach of death, most people came to cherish life all the more. Only people like him, who had long since made peace with life and death, were different.
"Stop crying!"
Werther's sharp command made Koala flinch. Her sobs gradually faded.
"Where is the Revolutionary Army's Material Reserve Point?"
Koala's mouth opened and closed, her expression twisting with inner conflict. In the end, she still said nothing.
"Then the game continues."
Werther made to tie the Black Cloth around her head again.
"No, no, I..."
Koala struggled fiercely, pressing her head hard against the back of the chair.
"Where is it?"
Silence fell over the room again.
"At sea."
Koala went limp.
