Time turned back to when Werther had first arrived outside the Restaurant.
On the top floor of the luxurious Restaurant, a fat, middle-aged man listened to a subordinate's report, sweat pouring down his face.
The man was Gavin Berkeley. He was no nobody in Water 7. Though he was not particularly famous in shipbuilding, he was a leading figure in the city's service industry.
The service industry brought him into contact with all sorts of people. As Berkeley's business grew, he became a major figure in the Underworld of Water 7 and even the surrounding waters.
He had just finished lunch at his Restaurant and was enjoying himself with his secretary in his top-floor office. But just as he was reaching the crucial moment, a subordinate knocked on the door in a great hurry.
Berkeley knew his subordinate must have known what he was doing in there. If the man dared interrupt him now, it had to be important. As an Underworld boss, how could Berkeley let a moment's pleasure interfere with serious business?
He pushed away his secretary, who looked at him resentfully, and opened the door wearing nothing but his trousers. If this turned out to be nothing important, he would make the bastard regret interrupting him.
"Sir, we have a problem! Our lookout just reported that Werther, the Shichibukai known as the Thunder Swordsman, has arrived in Water 7. He's right outside our Restaurant and looks like he's coming in to eat. What should we do? If we offend someone like him, we're finished!"
Berkeley drew a sharp breath. Of course he had heard of the Thunder Swordsman. He even knew a few secrets about him: that Werther was a partner of his boss, Joker, and how that madman had become a Shichibukai.
