Momonga shouted toward the Red Hair Pirates, "Shanks! How are you?"
Surrounded by his crew, Shanks was drenched in sweat. Gray-green bulges traveled across his face and hands, as though something were crawling beneath his skin.
"It's coming!"
Just as he was about to speak, Shanks gritted his teeth and roared. His left hand began to writhe and twist like a huge python.
At the same time, the arm that had been as shriveled as the rest of his body rapidly swelled. In the blink of an eye, it went from skin and bones to a muscular arm that stood in stark contrast to his withered frame.
Benn Beckman was ready the moment Shanks shouted. Gripping a dagger, he slashed straight through Shanks's left shoulder.
Squelch!
The blade sank in. Neither muscle nor bone slowed it for an instant.
Barely a second after that sound, the thick arm fell to the ground.
Yasopp and the others rushed forward with bandages and medicine to dress Shanks's wound. Benn Beckman kicked the severed arm away as it continued to writhe and change shape, then cursed it.
"Get lost, Monster! Stay away from my captain!"
Screee!
With a piercing shriek, several fleshy tendrils burst through the severed arm's skin and stretched into the air.
Its gaping mouth was lined with tiny, razor-sharp teeth, ring after ring spiraling into its depths.
"Tony, get rid of that thing!"
Momonga still had no idea what was going on, but he tried shouting to Tony anyway.
