Background and History

Tony once ran a dojo. Pirates destroyed his hometown as a consequence of his involvement with Asura Swordsmanship, leaving him with lasting guilt. He joined the Marines to take revenge and ranked first in his Recruit Camp class before entering Zephyr’s Elite Camp 49 53 73.

During a mission in Hisville, Tony’s Blood Marrow Worms began directing his body and sword. He initially allowed their violence to continue against pirates, but lost the ability to distinguish targets and killed dozens of coerced civilians in Greenleaf Town. Loa stopped and arrested him. Tony was left despairing over the deaths; Zephyr subsequently arranged for the evidence to be removed 75 78 80 81 82 84.

Hansa revealed that a larva hidden in Tony’s Asura Swordsmanship manual had entered his body while he slept. The manual was part of the Bibi family’s search for hosts for its engineered worms. After Hansa’s death, Tony trained relentlessly and took up White Bone Lord, the sword Hansa had left him 87 88 162 191.

On Ian Island, Tony chose to absorb the Source of Life despite the risk of death or losing his mind. He survived, inherited Titan’s power and stayed in the New World with Shanks to help eliminate the remaining Blood Marrow Worms. Momonga gave him one year to return 224 228 229 230. Tony later reunited with Loa after killing Pica and reported that most of the worms had been cleared out 349 355 356.

Appearance

Tony wears a much-washed Marine recruit’s uniform even after his prolonged absence from the Marines 349 373.

Personality

Tony is gentle and kind outside combat, but the destruction of his hometown has left him fiercely hostile to pirates. He is driven both by revenge and by a desire to become strong enough to stand alongside Loa 73 81 224 466.

He trains relentlessly and will challenge opponents far above his level. That resolve can become recklessness: early in the Elite Camp, he posed after assuming a strike had landed and suffered a shattered shoulder when Mingde counterattacked 53 162 230.

Abilities and Skills

Asura Swordsmanship and Blood Marrow Worms

Asura Swordsmanship is an assassination-oriented style built around controlling Blood Marrow Worms. Its strikes can carry dangerous material into a target, but Tony must first penetrate the target’s exterior defense 49 87.

• Shura Secret Art: Thousand Corpses Pagoda — an unfinished ultimate attack. It fails against Loa because Tony cannot cut through his concentrated Ice Armor 49 50.
• Worm shaping — the worms form hard tendrils and can reshape White Bone Lord into heavier weapons, including an axe and spiked hammer 87 374.
• Danger of losing control — before learning to command the worms, Tony’s body attacks without his consent and eventually kills indiscriminately 78 81 87.

Titan Transformation

• Tony can become a roughly fifteen-meter Titan while retaining his intelligence, then return to human form 228 229.
• His strength is difficult to judge safely: a punch against a worm-infested severed arm creates a huge crater and throws nearby people away 228.
• Each transformation requires a long period of energy recovery 229.

Swordsmanship and Haki

• One Sword Style: Arc Light — a rapid draw-and-slash technique using acceleration and footwork 53.
• One Sword Style: Moon Slash — splits the ground open and forces the concealed Pica to the surface 349.
• Eight Slashes, Eight Thousand Cuts — sends out numerous arcs of Sword Energy; Tony developed it using Shanks’s teaching and his own insights 373.
