Kureha had ties to Roger and even knew the secrets of the "D" clan. That much had come out early in the original story, so Loa knew it well. What he hadn't expected was that Kureha had actually sailed on Roger's ship!
"Wait. Wasn't the Roger Pirates' ship doctor Crocus, the guy holed up at Twin Cape? What does that have to do with you?"
Loa asked her outright.
"Hmph. Kid, how long ago do you think that was?"
"Sea Circle Calendar 1496. Four years ago." Loa spread his hands and said with a sneer, "Are you just trying to make yourself look important? I've never heard of anyone like you aboard Pirate King Roger's ship."
"Hmph. Ignorant brat!" Kureha didn't rise to the bait. She gave a cold laugh and asked, "Then do you know when Roger first went to sea?"
"Uh..."
Now Loa was at a loss for words.
Roger had been fifty-five when he was executed. Both the original story and the records Loa had found in the Marines were clear on that point. The year had been 1500.
In other words, Loa could only be certain that Crocus had been Roger's ship doctor during the three-year voyage that made him Pirate King, from Sea Circle Calendar 1496 to 1499. But even in 1496, Roger had already been fifty-one...
Had he spent all those years before that sitting at home?
Obviously not!
The world-shaking Battle of Edd War had taken place in 1495, when Roger was fifty. Long before that, he had found Rayleigh—now known as the Dark King—in his youth and declared that they would turn the world upside down!
Which raised the question: who had been Roger's ship doctor before Crocus? Surely he hadn't sailed the perilous Grand Line without one.
