The moment the words left his mouth, a terrifying wave of blood surged toward them. Explosions and collisions roared in an unbroken barrage.
Kaido, Teach, and the others each used their own powers to stop the wave. Loa merely waved a hand, and the blood rushing at him vanished.
In his sea of consciousness, Ivy clicked her tongue. "I tried modifying Death Knights before, but none of them could wield power like this. They mostly relied on swordsmanship in a fight!"
"It depends on the person," Loa replied. "Ulysses was once a Vampire Fruit user. He was a legend on the seas for over two hundred years, and his strength nearly reached the limits this world could contain. It wouldn't make sense for him to be on the same level as a Death Knight made from an ordinary person."
"True." Ivy nodded, agreeing with Loa, then sighed. "But he's still too weak. He won't be any help in your fight with her."
"If he can defeat Redfield and reclaim the Vampire Fruit, he might stand a chance." Loa smiled. "That's exactly what I'm after."
Loa had originally come for the two "stolen" Road Poneglyphs. He could simply force both sides to hand them over. But Redfield's appearance and the fervor in Ulysses's eyes had changed his mind.
Loa had never been confident he could handle the half of Dragon Body belonging to Ivy, his adoptive mother. Otherwise, the first thing he would have done upon returning was storm Mary Geoise and deal with the source.
