"Damn you! Get off Mr. Zoro!" Brook shouted furiously when he saw Kizaru pinning Zoro beneath his foot again.
Kizaru seemed not to hear Brook. He kept his head lowered, watching Zoro struggle to hold himself up despite his broken spine.
Surprise flickered in his eyes. "Oh? You still won't yield under this much force? That's a surprise."
It wasn't that Zoro hadn't wanted to dodge the earlier attack or escape from under Kizaru's foot. He couldn't. There was no getting away.
Kizaru had unleashed his full power to lock Zoro in place and suppress him. It was as if an invisible circle surrounded Kizaru, turning the space around him into a domain of his own.
Zoro felt as though a mountain had suddenly dropped onto his back. All he could do was keep himself from being crushed beneath its immense weight, much less break free.
He needed an opening. If that mountain let up for even a moment, he might be able to throw it off.
When Kizaru gave no response, Brook's anger flared. It was just like before. Two years ago, he'd been powerless against this Logia user. Now he could do something about him—he could cut him down!
Brook gripped Soul Solid, and a bitter chill poured from him. It reached beyond the flesh, seeping into the soul itself.
The Marines around him began to shiver. Robin felt the cold through her thin clothes, while Wuli promptly scooped up Chopper. Chopper looked at him in confusion and tried to wriggle free, but Wuli held him tight.
"Hey, put me down, you bastard! I'm not a pillow!"
Robin noticed Wuli using Chopper as a pillow to keep warm. At the sight of Chopper's aggrieved expression, she would have laughed aloud if the atmosphere hadn't been so tense.
