| Post-two-year swordsman | 32 | Has become markedly stronger after two years of training; fights Shu while deliberately preventing the Rust-Rust Fruit user from touching his swords. |
| Armament Haki-enhanced Three-Sword Style | 35 | Coats his blades in Armament Haki and uses Three-Sword Style: Tiger Hunt, overpowering Shu and breaking through Wuli’s initial water defense. |
| Recognized equal-level duel | 36 | His Haki-supported Tiger Hunt breaks Wuli’s snowflake barrier, but Wuli disperses the remaining slash with Nagi, forcing Zoro to treat him as a serious opponent. |
| Extreme Tiger Hunt | 37 | Uses an enhanced Tiger Hunt that Wuli cannot block directly; Wuli instead slows it with Fire of the Dying Rain and redirects it with a tornado. Zoro adapts to the slowing effect and immediately resumes close combat. |
Appearance
Zoro has short green hair, a scar over his left eye, and carries three swords at his right hip. He is commonly seen in a combat-ready stance with one sword held in his teeth when using his Three-Sword Style. 29 31 33

Personality
Zoro is direct, proud, and intensely committed to overcoming strong opponents. When the Straw Hats encounter the Marines, he immediately proposes cutting them down rather than fleeing; later, he refuses to abandon his duel with Wuli until the growing natural disaster makes retreat unavoidable. 29 38 39
His loyalty to Luffy is equally uncompromising. Wuli’s private knowledge of Luffy’s past convinces Zoro that the Marine colonel could become a serious threat to his captain, prompting Zoro to release killing intent and prepare to eliminate him. He immediately restrains himself when Luffy signals him to stop. 33
Abilities & Skills
Three-Sword Style
Zoro wields two swords in his hands and a third in his mouth, using the flat sides of his blades to incapacitate ordinary Marines without killing them. 31
- Three-Sword Style: Tornado — Creates tornado-like sword pressure that lifts Shu into the air and inflicts multiple wounds. 35
- Three-Sword Style: Tiger Hunt — A powerful direct slash; when strengthened with Armament Haki, it overwhelms Shu and cuts through Wuli’s water defense. 35
- Extreme Tiger Hunt — An enhanced Tiger Hunt with enough force to tear through the air and pressure Wuli into relying on slowing and redirection techniques instead of a direct block. 37
Armament Haki
Zoro reinforces his swords with Armament Haki, substantially increasing the force of his Three-Sword Style attacks. 35
- Haki-enhanced Tiger Hunt shatters Wuli’s snowflake-shaped defensive wall. 36
- Its power is strong enough that Wuli must counter the residual slash with Floating Feather Divine Wind Style Sword: Nagi. 36
Combat Adaptation
Zoro quickly adjusts to hostile techniques and battlefield conditions.
- Avoids Shu’s hands throughout their rematch to protect his swords from the Rust-Rust Fruit. 32
- Evades Shu’s eroding vortex after recognizing its danger. 35
- Breaks through the slowing effect of Wuli’s Fire of the Dying Rain by accelerating his movements. 37
Killing Intent
Zoro can release a suffocatingly intense killing intent that overwhelms nearby Marines and places even Shu under severe pressure. 33
Equipment / Weapons / Items
- Three swords — His principal weapons and the foundation of his Three-Sword Style. 29 31
- Yubashiri — A former sword rusted away by Shu during the Enies Lobby Incident; its loss makes Zoro especially cautious of Shu’s Devil Fruit ability. 29 32
Relationships
- Monkey D. Luffy — Captain and close companion. Zoro follows Luffy’s command to stand down despite being prepared to attack Wuli; Luffy also mischievously flings Zoro onto the Marine warship using his stretched arm. 30 33
- Sanji — Rival and crewmate. Their frequent insults continue during the Marine encounter, but Sanji forcibly rescues Zoro from the oceanic disaster when retreat becomes necessary. 38 39
- Wuli — Marine colonel and unresolved rival. Zoro regards Wuli’s intimate knowledge of Luffy as dangerous, then comes to recognize his swordsmanship as worthy of a serious duel. 33 36 39
- Shu — Marine captain and former Enies Lobby opponent. Shu previously rusted Zoro’s sword Yubashiri, leading Zoro to fight defensively during their rematch. 29 32
- Nami — Crewmate whose warnings about the approaching superstorm Zoro initially cannot hear from the Marine warship. 36
- Roronoa Zoro and the Straw Hat crew — The crew later shares Zoro’s concern over Wuli’s intelligence and expects another encounter with the Marine colonel. 40
Story Role / Major Arcs
Encounter with the Marine Warship
After recognizing Shu aboard an approaching Marine vessel, Zoro helps repel its cannon barrage and is accidentally launched onto the warship by Luffy’s prank. He defeats ordinary Marines with the flat of his swords before Shu requests their rematch. 29 30 31
Wuli’s Knowledge of Luffy
During the battle, Wuli reveals private details about Luffy’s connection to Shanks and Rayleigh. Zoro becomes convinced that Wuli is too dangerous to leave unchecked and prepares to kill him, but Luffy stops the attack and demands answers instead. 32 33
Duel with Wuli
When Shu is overwhelmed, Wuli intervenes to protect him, beginning Zoro’s direct clash with the Marine colonel. Zoro breaks Wuli’s defenses with Haki-enhanced attacks, while Wuli counters with water, snow, flames, and wind-based sword techniques. 35 36 37
Forced Retreat
Zoro refuses Sanji’s initial demand to retreat, determined to defeat Wuli and uncover the source of his knowledge. The eruption of enormous reverse-flow waterfalls forces Sanji to drag him back to the Thousand Sunny, leaving the conflict unresolved. 38 39
