As the Marines at the base watched, a warship slowly sailed out of the harbor. A beautiful, unusual One-Legged Bird flew overhead, tracing a graceful arc through the sky as it followed the ship.

At the stern stood a man wearing a Marine Justice Coat, waving goodbye. Food supplies were piled high behind him, and the Marines aboard were busy carrying them into the hold.

"Commodore Wuli, come back to our base whenever you need supplies! We'll make sure you have plenty!" the base's Marine Rear Admiral said with a smile, far friendlier than before.

A large group of people had been tied up at the naval port. Their lips were cracked, and they were half-dead from hunger. Most had already passed out.

Only two were still barely holding on. One was a burly man with a pet chameleon perched on his head. Dizzy and bleary-eyed, he saw everything around him as food—succulent chunks of meat.

Tied beside the burly man was someone tall and thin, with a beard, dark skin, and sleeves so long they hung well past his hands, hiding them from view.

He stuck out his long tongue and stared at the figure aboard the departing warship. Something seemed to stir in his hollow eyes.

The people tied up at the port, starving to the brink of death, were the Caribou Pirates.

"Don't worry, Commodore Wuli. I'll send these scum who slaughtered Marines straight to Impel Down. They deserve to die, every last one of them. Let them get a taste of hell early, so they'll know their way around when they end up there for good."
