Buggy felt himself growing weaker by the moment. Even his extraordinary Devil Fruit powers could not withstand the rain Shangyang had summoned.
He made it to a spot near the harbor, but could go no farther. Drained of strength, he sank to one knee, his head drooping as the light in his eyes began to fade.
He watched that streak of light draw closer. He refused to give up, but he felt utterly powerless, as though his strength had been sealed away.
Given the choice, Buggy would rather take a slash from Hawkeye than face Shangyang's uncanny rain again.
It was humiliating.
Is this as far as I go? Despair crept into Buggy's heart.
Shangyang shot toward him in a streak of light. To the bird, Buggy was prey that could no longer escape.
Bang!
Just as Shangyang was about to reach Buggy, a bullet tore through the air and struck the bird.
Shangyang fell from the sky. Wuli's pupils contracted as he saw blood dripping from the bird's body.
"You stupid bird!"
Wuli flashed forward and caught Shangyang an instant before the bird hit the ground. Blood soaked his hands. The bird that was always fooling around and talking back struggled to open its eyes, then fell unconscious.
Wuli looked toward the harbor, his face dark. A ship was approaching.
The onlookers turned toward it too. Once they made out the vessel, they were too stunned to speak.
The Marines saw its flag and froze in terror. Their nerves stretched taut, and sweat soaked their clothes in an instant.
"Is that...?" someone asked, pointing at the ship in disbelief.
"No way. What are one of the Four Emperors doing here?"
"This is huge! Get the word out, quickly! The Red Hair
