After spotting Ye Chen, War Wolf's eyes lit up. It let out low, powerful growls, its voice carrying an intimidating sense of pressure.
War Wolf stared at Ye Chen, drool dripping from its mouth. It had clearly taken Ye Chen for a delicious meal. Suddenly, it let out a wild roar and charged at him like lightning, kicking up a fierce gust as it reached Ye Chen in no time.
"Run!"
The surrounding prisoners shouted one after another. Unwilling to accept this, Ye Chen gritted his teeth, clenched his fists, and charged forward.
With a puff, before his fist could strike War Wolf, War Wolf bit down on his leg. The pain made Ye Chen cry out at once.
Ye Chen hurriedly swung his fist at War Wolf. His somewhat childish fist smashed hard into War Wolf's forehead. The instant War Wolf released its bite, Ye Chen turned and ran.
War Wolf let out a disdainful howl and chased after him again. Ye Chen scrambled desperately, nearly having his neck bitten several times. He ran with every ounce of strength he had. Fortunately, the Prison was not far away. By the time Ye Chen crawled back inside, his body was covered in blood.
War Wolf seemed to want to rush into the Prison, but it was too large to squeeze through. Furious, it bared its fangs and brandished its claws, howling incessantly. Its eyes fixed on Ye Chen with a bloody gleam, as if it wanted nothing more than to rush in and tear him to pieces. Ye Chen was still shaken, cold sweat beading on his forehead.
Fortunately, War Wolf could not get in. After a while, seeing that Ye Chen refused to come out, it angrily swished its tail and walked away.
"Damn it!"
Ye Chen unwillingly punched the ground. It had been far too dangerous, but this place was freezing. If things continued like this, with no food or clothing, they would either freeze to death or starve to death.
If he could kill War Wolf, he could not only skin it for warmth, but also eat its meat. Though dangerous, it would at least let Olvia and him survive.
Although War Wolf was terrifying, Ye Chen still refused to give up. Seeing him covered in blood from the bite, Olvia struggled to rise from the ground.
Fortunately, hiding beneath Saul's body shielded them somewhat from the wind and cold, making it a little warmer.
"Ye Chen, what happened to you?"
Olvia looked at Ye Chen with a pale face. Worriedly, she reached out and touched his wound. Ye Chen shook his head. "I'm fine. We've been locked in the Prison, but there aren't any guards here. Don't worry, we'll be all right."
Though he was only six years old, Ye Chen was comforting Olvia. Olvia froze, as if in a dream. She had not expected Ye Chen to remain so calm even after being locked up in the Prison. He had been bitten and injured, yet he was still comforting her.
Any other child would have already been crying and making a fuss.
Olvia's condition was worsening, and Ye Chen's injuries were not minor either. Ye Chen frowned and thought for a moment before deciding that he could not continue waiting helplessly. Though War Wolf was dangerous, he had to take a gamble. He forced himself to calm down and thought of the Martial Arts Codex on his person.
Using martial arts against War Wolf would surely work. It was just that Ye Chen had trained for too short a time and lacked a solid foundation. His current skills were far inferior to War Wolf's.
As the human meridians flashed through his mind, Ye Chen's eyes suddenly brightened. He slapped his hands against his body. "The most effective method is Acupoint Striking. I've practiced the Eagle Claw Technique for three months already. I might still have a chance to win."
To strike War Wolf's acupoints, he had to catch it by surprise and seize its vital point in an instant. Ye Chen calmed himself. At times he pondered deeply, and at times he practiced inside the Prison.
By nightfall, his stomach was growling with hunger. War Wolf's howls sounded outside once more. Ye Chen made up his mind. This time, he did not go far from the Prison before deliberately raising his voice and shouting.
When War Wolf appeared, Ye Chen crooked a finger at it and smiled provocatively. Seeing War Wolf charge over, Ye Chen darted back into the Prison.
He deliberately stood before the iron gate. It was the same War Wolf from the daytime. This War Wolf seemed unwilling to give up as well. Perhaps it had not eaten in a long time. Provoked repeatedly by Ye Chen, it quickly rushed up to the iron gate.
Even with the iron gate blocking its path, War Wolf saw Ye Chen standing nearby and pounced without a second thought. With a bang, its head thrust inside. If its body had not been too large, War Wolf would have charged straight into the Prison.
"Ye Chen, what are you doing? Be careful."
Hearing the wolf's howls, Olvia forced herself out from beneath Saul's body. Seeing the savage, terrifying War Wolf with green light in its eyes, she turned deathly pale and began trembling uncontrollably.
Ye Chen dodged aside. His right hand formed a claw and struck fiercely at War Wolf's temple, while his left hand followed with a throat lock around War Wolf's neck.
Bang.
Ye Chen's fingers, wrapped in a whistling gust of force, struck hard against War Wolf's temple. War Wolf howled in pain, stars bursting before its eyes as its head buzzed.
Caught off guard, it was badly hurt. However, War Wolf had thick hide, tough flesh, and strong bones. Even after its vital point was struck, it still did not fall.
Instead, it grew even fiercer. Ye Chen's left hand locked tightly around War Wolf's neck while his right hand struck at its eyes again. War Wolf refused to yield, its lower claws constantly raking at Ye Chen, tearing him until blood flowed freely and even ripping flesh from his legs.
Ye Chen knew that he could not let go even if he died. Otherwise, if this attack failed, War Wolf would never fall for it again.
War Wolf had dared to charge over because Ye Chen was a child. In its eyes, Ye Chen posed no threat at all.
Once it broke free and realized Ye Chen meant it harm, this War Wolf would never approach the Prison again.
Blood flowed from Ye Chen's legs, but his right hand did not stop. He desperately struck War Wolf's eyes and temples, while the fingers of his left hand nearly dug into War Wolf's neck.
Although Ye Chen was not very strong, the Eagle Claw Technique he practiced was specifically meant to train finger strength. The force in Ye Chen's fingers was not weak at all.
War Wolf had been careless and fallen for Ye Chen's trick. At first, it did not care, but once its temples and eyes were injured by Ye Chen's fingers, its body began convulsing wildly, and its cries became increasingly shrill and miserable.
War Wolf desperately backed away, trying to break free. Ye Chen gritted his teeth and used all his strength, clinging to it without letting go. The two struggled for a long time before War Wolf finally breathed its last and collapsed to the ground.
After War Wolf died, Ye Chen also collapsed weakly to the ground, as though every bit of strength had been drained from his body.
Looking at the dead War Wolf, Ye Chen secretly felt fortunate. The reason he had managed to kill it was mostly luck. If he had encountered it outside in the snowy fields, Ye Chen would have had no chance of winning.
After resting for a long time, another problem confronted Ye Chen. War Wolf was too large to drag inside, and he had no tools. After thinking it over, he could only break an ice spike from Saul's body.
He forcibly gutted War Wolf and skinned it, just short of cutting it into eight pieces. Ye Chen had never done anything so bloody and cruel before, but now he could no longer worry about that.
If he wanted to live, he had to become strong, because this was no longer the Great Qing Dynasty where he could live in comfort and privilege.
To Ye Chen, the Great Qing Dynasty had already fallen. Reality was cruel, but he had to learn to face it!
